Amar Apte Girish Kulkarni is a private detective who makes ends meet by spying on cheating partners. He is married to Prachi, a woman who silently regrets the marriage despite her parents opposing it, and he is kept afloat by the support of his in-laws. The job he takes on a typical day can tilt his world—he often steps into morally murky territory to collect secrets for those who want to hide them.

On one assignment, Amar gets a close-up view of a woman with her lover, exactly as her husband demanded, but the moment of proximity exposes him to danger. He manages to escape the scene, yet the trouble isn’t over. Later, police arrive and tell him he has tangled with the wrong person. The lover of the woman he photographed turns out to be Mr. Prasad Sathe, a prominent businessman, who files a case for breach of privacy. The authorities seize all of Amar’s earnings from this case, effectively bribing them to hush the matter.

A new client appears, and the encounter shifts the tone of Amar’s world. Neha [Sai Tamhankar] is introduced as the wife of Prasad Sathe, a woman who wants Amar to spy on her husband. She hands him exactly the amount he had lost bribing the police, matching his earlier misfortune with a fresh, uphill debt.
