Komban Babu, a notorious and influential toddy shop owner with a dark past of illegal activities, is found dead in his own establishment, hanging from the ceiling. Initially, everyone believes it to be a suicide, but Sub-Inspector Santosh begins to suspect otherwise as he starts investigating the scene and questioning everyone present that night—Kannan, Suni, Biju, Ceylon, and others. His detailed examination leads him to believe that the death was carefully planned and orchestrated, pointing toward murder.

Ceylon soon reveals a crucial piece of the puzzle: Merinda, the wife of Kannan, had once been involved in an affair with Babu. Kannan, who is physically disabled, knew about this relationship but was unable to act against the domineering Babu, which complicates the motives involved. As Santosh digs deeper, he begins to suspect another key person—Suni, a close associate of Babu involved in his criminal dealings. The motivation for revenge emerges clearer as Kannan and Merinda had secretly plotted to kill Babu. On the night of the murder, Kannan cleverly administered sleeping pills into Babu’s toddy, knocking him out. In the meantime, Kannan placed a noose around Babu’s neck and instructed Merinda to attach the other end to Babu’s parked truck outside. When she drove the truck away, Babu was effectively murdered—his death staged as a hanging.

To divert suspicion, they fabricated the story of Merinda’s affair and the masked intruder, planting false clues to mislead anyone investigating. Kannan also manipulates Suni, spreading the idea that Santosh might be involved in a conspiracy to frame Suni for Babu’s murder, due to a personal vendetta. Flashbacks reveal the details of Babu’s staged murder, pinpointing Kannan and Merinda’s involvement.
