A sinister-looking stranger in a Charlie Chaplin mask strides toward a lake, carrying a bloody bag, as if echoing a dark ritual. Six years earlier, Rhythm was married to Raghu and they welcomed a son named Ajay. One ordinary day, Rhythm reads a children’s story about a missing penguin as Raghu breaks the news that Bhavana’s father has died. The couple visits Bhavana’s house with Ajay, where they encounter Rhythm’s friend Abi and her husband Kathir. Inside, Bhavana lies dazed and unresponsive. Rhythm tries to soothe her, but Bhavana remains uncommunicative. The mood shifts when Raghu accuses Rhythm of mishandling Bhavana’s distress and the family discovers that Ajay has vanished. A frantic search ensues, and it’s Kathir who finally locates Ajay outside the house, but the shadow of the disappearance lingers.

Back in the present, Rhythm sits in the clinic’s waiting room, attempting to keep calm as a nurse calls her in. She plays peek-a-boo with a young girl, only to realize the child vanished when she closes her eyes. A sudden swarm of insects on the ceiling triggers a gut-wrenching flashback, and Rhythm collapses. The doctor warns her that she is paralyzed by a fear of bugs and urges her to forget the past and avoid the lake. Yet the pull of the lake—the memory of Ajay and what happened to him—pulls Rhythm toward the edge once more.

The routine appointment becomes a premonition of danger when a routine day near the lake turns into an alarm. Rhythm is told Ajay’s school friends heard a whistle from the forest, and Ajay wandered off following it. Pavi, one of Ajay’s companions, mentions a man in a Charlie Chaplin mask seen in the woods. Rhythm’s worry escalates as police are sent to comb the lake region. In her grief, Rhythm slips into a daze, and the search team uncovers a chilling clue: a bouquet of human intestines with a Rest in Peace card. The sight sends Rhythm into shock, and the insects’ bite into her fear becomes a clear symbol of what her life has become. As time passes, Ajay’s bloodstained clothes are found in the forest, and the investigators grow convinced that Ajay is dead.

In the present, Rhythm’s memories flicker between happier times with Ajay and a new terror: a mysterious killer in a Chaplin mask stalking the town. She glimpses an injured man fleeing from the same masked figure and learns that he saw a missing child in the killer’s grip. The killer seems to spot Rhythm but lets her escape, and she clings to the belief that Ajay is the missing child—until a second missing girl named Anjana complicates the picture. Rhythm keeps searching, driven by love and fear, even as the police struggle to connect the clues.

At a carnival, Rhythm loses track of Ajay again, and Raghu reappears to help look for him. Gautham cannot be reached, and Ajay’s fate remains uncertain. A break occurs when a kidnapper breaks into Rhythm’s home and uses sign language to communicate with Ajay. Rhythm fights to stop the intruder, but the kidnapper escapes.

Ajay’s doctor, a man named David, suggests a speech therapist to help Ajay recover. On the way to the therapy session, Rhythm’s dog Cyrus discovers human remains in a dumpster and leads her to David’s house. Suspecting David, Rhythm uses a clever ruse to force him to leave his home, and a hidden room reveals Anjana and Ajay in danger. Rhythm rescues them and gets David arrested. In a revealing conversation with David, Rhythm learns that he has abducted children for their organs and that the bouquet’s arrival was a calculated distraction. He also hints that the kidnapper is close to Rhythm and urges her to rethink the situation from a new angle.

Rhythm’s suspicion initially settles on Raghu, given Ajay’s unusual reactions around him. She hurries to the hospital only to discover that Gautham has been attacked. A gloved clue hints that the kidnapper is female, pointing Rhythm toward a truth she had not yet considered. The trail leads her to a house where the kidnapper finally unveils herself: Bhavana. The revelation is brutal and transformative. Bhavana explains that, as children, Rhythm received the spotlight while Bhavana was left behind, and over the years she created a separate identity to cope with that pain. She recounts Ajay’s kidnapping as a day-long ordeal that stretched into years, and Abi’s husband Kathir’s fatal confrontation with Bhavana becomes a key turning point when Ajay’s safety was compromised.

Bhavana’s confession leaves Rhythm with a choice: save her unborn child or Ajay. A poisoned drink is offered, and Ajay is given the same deadly dose. Bhavana hopes Rhythm will feel the unbearable weight of her suffering, but Rhythm refuses to abandon Ajay. In a desperate moment, Bhavana shoots herself, and Rhythm, aided by Cyrus, discovers the underground room where Ajay is held and Kathir’s decomposing body. Rhythm frees Ajay, but the poison’s effects begin to take hold. Ajay, speaking for the first time, calls out to his mother as the two race to safety.

Rhythm ends up in the hospital, where tests show that both she and her unborn baby are safe, though weakened. Ajay resumes his playful self, a sign that life can begin to heal from such wounds, even after so much darkness.
