The story revolves around a dark-skinned college student, Parizaad, who has grown up carrying heavy self-esteem issues despite being extraordinarily hardworking, deeply respectful, and capable of leaving a lasting impression on anyone he meets. In this Rawalpindi world, he balances a stubborn inner fight between pursuing his true passion for poetry and choosing a more practical path that can provide for his family. He shares his life with his brothers, and while his sister Saeeda loves him dearly, family pressure pushes her toward an arranged marriage with an older man. Naheed and Majid, two young people trapped in a web of unspoken feelings, are in love themselves, even as Majid is the man Naheed secretly loves.

Early in the tale, Parizaad’s life takes a brutal turn when he is falsely accused of sending a love letter to Naheed at her home. The insult is public, and Naheed’s father slaps him in front of a gathering of witnesses. The truth behind the scene—Naheed’s affection for Majid and Majid’s presence on her terrace that night—shatters Parizaad, who contemplates ending his life. In Karachi, Parizaad enters the world of a powerful don, Behroze Karim, who commands a vast and dangerous mafia empire. He starts as a shift supervisor in Behroze’s factory, but his integrity earns Behroze’s trust, eventually placing him as the bodyguard to Behroze’s wife, Layla Saba. Parizaad is warned to report everything about Layla back to Behroze, and Layla’s disloyal nature becomes obvious as she uses Parizaad’s naiveté to secretly meet her lover. When Behroze learns of Layla’s betrayal, he kills Layla and her lover, sparing Parizaad’s life but entrapping himself in the murder investigation due to the lover’s powerful connections. To protect Parizaad, Behroze sends him to Guru, where Parizaad crosses paths with Bubly again and helps reconcile her with her parents. Upon returning to Karachi, Parizaad bears the blame for the murders and ends up in jail.

His brothers and sisters-in-law, previously driven by greed, shower him with affection. Parizaad reencounters Lubna, who has since become a divorcee and a fading actress, and he chooses to back her film career, showing how wealth can sculpt new alliances. He also reconnects with Ahmad and begins to help Naheed by arranging jobs for her sister and for Majid. Naheed, who is now in a precarious situation due to her husband’s failures, tries to rekindle the old flame with Parizaad, but he declines, choosing a different path after the lessons he has learned from his rise and his past heartbreaks.

As time passes, Parizaad meets Annie, a radio host who is blind but deeply devoted to his poetry. She becomes a die-hard admirer not of his wealth but of the beauty of his words. Parizaad’s heart stirs for Annie, yet he fears the heartbreak that his dark skin might invite again if she ever regains her sight. The shadow of Sharjeel—Annie’s cousin—stirs trouble as he reveals plans to propose to Annie once her sight returns, unaware of Parizaad’s true feelings. In a moment of weakness, Parizaad even contemplates ordering his bodyguard Akbar to kill Sharjeel, but his conscience stops him from taking another life. Heartbroken by the persistent barrier that wealth and appearance place between him and true love, Parizaad leaves Karachi behind and disappears into the mountains, choosing to become a teacher in a village school. No one in the outside world knows his whereabouts. The story takes a turn when Annie, now a news anchor, encounters Parizaad again in the village. She does not recognize him at first, but as she hears his voice and touches his face, she realizes the truth. The two confess their love, and the tale concludes with a hopeful note: Parizaad finally finds the love he has always sought. They plan to open an Urdu academy in the village, with Annie working as an assistant for the Urdu academy and launching a radio program from the village, signaling a new chapter where poetry, education, and love intersect in a quieter, more meaningful life.
