Param Arjun Kapoor is a man from a small village in Punjab who, during the Dusshera festival, goes with friends to witness the Ravan Dahan and instead finds himself drawn to Jasmeet Parineeti Chopra, a bright, educated, and ambitious young woman. Jasmeet’s grandfather and older brother stand firmly in the way of her pursuing work outside the home, rooted in a conservative family tradition. Yet her dream of independence never truly fades, and she quietly clings to the possibility of a life that she can shape herself.

After a few chance meetings, Param and Jasmeet grow closer, and she begins to trust him more as a steady presence in her life. To get close to her, Param hatches a calculated plan: he enlists a friend to marry one of Jasmeet’s friends as a strategic move to bring them together. At the wedding, the two spend long moments in each other’s company, and the feeling they harbor for one another becomes harder to ignore. The bond deepens as Param helps Jasmeet land a part-time job at a jewelry store, a step that her grandfather discovers and uses to push for a different match, fearing the consequences of her independence.

Param pushes further, convincing his father to send a marriage proposal to Jasmeet’s family. Gurpreet Singh [Anjum Batra] agrees to the arrangement but on a sharp caveat: Jasmeet must not work after marriage. The wedding season arrives, and Gurpreet’s stand becomes a flashpoint when he disrespects Param’s father, leaving Param determined to safeguard the chance at a visa for himself and his future with Jasmeet. Gurpreet’s humiliation hardens his resolve to block Param’s path, casting a long shadow over the couple’s prospects.

A year slips by and the visa pursuit remains unresolved. Jasmeet expresses a growing desire to settle in London, England. A reunion with her school friend Harpreet in London provides a new lead—a tip about an illegal immigrant officer who might help them live in the UK. The officer lays out a stark reality: a two-step plan that could secure the path to Britain—Param would marry a British citizen to obtain a visa, and later he would marry Jasmeet. Hearing this, Jasmeet visits a lawyer and initially agrees to the plan, but Param refuses to participate in a marriage of convenience that would compromise his integrity.

Undeterred, Param seeks a way to win Gurpreet’s trust, and he makes a public apology before everyone. Gurpreet claims forgiveness but insists that Param’s father must apologize as well; Param refuses to bend to that demand. Meanwhile, the officer announces a job opportunity for Jasmeet in the UK, fueling the couple’s conflicting hopes and fears. At the airport, as Jasmeet is about to depart, she reveals a painful truth: she intends to go on a marriage visa.

In London, the officer arranges for a man named Samar Singh Sandhu, aka Sam Aditya Seal, to pose as Jasmeet’s husband, a setup designed to please Sam’s elderly grandfather and secure their foothold in the country. Sam, who holds British citizenship, agrees to the arrangement for his own reasons, and Jasmeet’s willingness to participate in the scheme deepens their mutual pragmatism. The plan divides their loyalties and tests their choices as Jasmeet travels to the UK and Param follows, introducing himself to her neighbor Alisha Alankrita Sahai, a kind-hearted ally who believes in Param’s sincerity and helps him navigate the emotional maze of a broken relationship.

Crisis hits when Sam’s grandfather dies, and Sam is consoled by Jasmeet, creating a complicated web of feelings and obligations. As the wedding plans press forward, Jasmeet begins to question the moral cost of the arrangement. She confesses the truth to Sam, who offers a candid warning to return to Param and reconsider their paths. In a tense moment at the Indian Embassy, Param concedes his surrender, and Jasmeet faces a choice about where her future should lie. Ultimately, the film returns to its core promise: the couple’s enduring love brings them back to each other, and they are reunited in the end, choosing a shared future over a scripted shortcut.
