Joe B. Carvalho is a private eye who dreams of a truly challenging case that can pay the bills, boost his name, and reverse a string of unlucky fortunes with his corny, good-humored charm.

General Kopa Bhalerao Kabana is a deluded suitor who is smitten with Gehna and believes she shares his feelings, even as Gehna is poised to marry Naidu, the son of Mumbai’s wealthiest diamond exporter. In a desperate bid to derail the wedding, Kopa hires international terrorist Carlos, a move that pulls in an unlikely and volatile coalition.

Carlos’s involvement draws in the underworld don MK, who agrees to help but secretly resents the arrangement and would be happy to see Carlos fall if the contract ever truly goes to someone else. On the other side of the law, Inspector Shantipriya Phadnis—Joe’s ex-girlfriend—gets tasked by her boss to track Carlos and prevent the saboteur from wrecking Gehna’s wedding. Spy cams are planted in MK’s house to monitor Carlos’s movements, while Malik is hired to eliminate Carlos.

A moneyed Khurana arranges a separate pursuit for Joe, asking him to locate his eloped daughter Neena. The case comes with a hotel address and a room number, 99, which Joe misreads as 66. Coincidentally, Carlos checks into the very same hotel in room 66, disguising himself as a sexy woman.

As the story accelerates, Shantipriya is handed Carlos’s address by her boss and rushes to intervene. MK informs Malik to find Carlos, setting the stage for a tense pursuit that blurs lines between friend and foe. Malik attacks Joe, who is mistaken for Carlos, and the ensuing chaos leads to a deadly misread: Shantipriya’s team shoots Malik dead and mistakes Joe for Carlos as the real Carlos is wounded and loses his memory.

Joe winds up in Carlos’s hotel room, now mistaken as the man himself, and both MK and Shantipriya close in from different angles. The chase threads through a series of misdirections, including Shantipriya’s strained history with Joe, who feels the hit-and-run consequences of his past actions.

Seeking a lead, Joe heads to the fireworks factory owned by Anil Virani, hoping that a business card found among Carlos’s belongings will point to Neena. In a terrifying twist, Carlos intends to plant a neutron bomb inside the factory’s fireworks for Naidu’s wedding. MK escalates the danger by sending more goons to the factory, and Shantipriya arrives on the scene just as chaos erupts and the factory catches fire, forcing everyone to flee.

The pursuit shifts again to a nightclub where Neena hangs out with Gehna. Unbeknownst to Joe, Carlos is there, working as a bartender and regaining his memory after an electric shock. A confrontation between Carlos and Joe ensues, ending with Carlos killing one of MK’s men and revealing a sharper, more dangerous edge than before.

A heart attack hits MK, and Kopa visits him, while Carlos, in disguise as MK’s nurse, realizes that Joe is now seen as Carlos and assumes Joe is taking on a lucrative contract involving Gehna. The police monitor MK’s bedroom with spy cameras, and Gehna learns that the Goa wedding is drawing near. Gehna’s pregnancy complicates the situation, and the wedding is moved to a secret location in Goa.

Gehna and Neena clash over the Goa plan, with Neena admitting that she’s also marrying in Goa on the same day. Joe informs Khurana of Neena’s situation, while MK’s men overhear and deduce that Gehna’s Goa wedding is the real target. To keep Joe in the loop and misdirect the threat, Shantipriya pretends to fall for him and accompanies him to Goa, carrying Carlos’s gear that includes a neutron bomb. A bomb-detecting device worn by Shantipriya tracks the bomb to Joe’s backpack, and the neutron device itself is disguised as a necklace that will detonate when a pen is pressed 50 times. Unaware, Joe places the necklace around Shantipriya’s neck, not realizing it is a weapon.

Joe then confronts Neena at the Goan wedding venue and urges her to halt the ceremony. Neena explains that Khurana is her stepfather and wants to block the marriage to keep control of her inheritance, and Joe vows to help Neena and confronts Khurana about his plans. The tension rises as Gehna’s in-laws turn against her, and Carlos abducts Shantipriya, threatening to derail everything.

At the marriage court, Joe arrives with Neena and Gehna just as Gehna goes into labor. Carlos, MK, and Khurana arrive, and Khurana concedes that Joe isn’t a contract killer but a failed detective, clearing the air and allowing Shantipriya a moment of relief. Kopa is also present, bringing a personal stake to the chaotic scene with Joe’s mother by his side.

In the ensuing fight, Joe’s martial arts skills shine as he stalls the mounting danger. The neutron bomb’s countdown begins, and the two-minute clock moves swiftly. Just when all seems lost, Joe seizes the bomb, hurling it away from the crowd. He and Shantipriya brace for the worst, and in a final act of self-sacrifice, Kopa throws himself onto the device, absorbing the explosion and saving Joe and Shantipriya.

The story closes on a note of hard-won survival, with the immediate threat neutralized and the tangled web of love, loyalty, and deception finally coming to some kind of resolution.
