Bujji, Gopichand is the only son of a wealthy and influential farmer, Anjaneya Prasad. The Prasad family is tightly knit, guided by strong values, and deeply loyal to one another. When Bujji meets Rajeshwari, Taapsee Pannu, in an unexpected moment, a quiet, growing love begins to bloom. Rajeshwari is the daughter of a powerful politician, Chamundeshwari, Roja Selvamani, and her husband, Shankar Rao, Naresh. The families approve the match, and all seems set for a happy union.

Yet the wedding road soon becomes thorny. After the ceremony, Prasad asks Rajeshwari to fetch a sacred Gowri Devi idol and bring it to the car, a request tied to ominous superstitions that her maternal grandmother warned against. Chamundeshwari worries that Bujji might destabilize the alliance, and a confrontation erupts between the families. In a tense exchange, Prasad’s son-in-law grabs the idol, Chamundeshwari slaps him, and a chain of counter-slaps unfolds: Prasad slaps Chamundeshwari; Chamundeshwari returns the blow with her slipper, leaving everyone stunned. Bujji steps into the fray and slaps Chamundeshwari, and Raja, watching, breaks down in tears, then throws her Mangala Sutra at Bujji’s face in a moment that shocks all in attendance.

The next day, Raja’s maternal uncle, played by Ahuti Prasad, visits and learns what happened. He travels to Bujji’s home, pressures him to sign the divorce papers, and though Bujji resists, the pressure wins out. Raja, heartbroken, sees the papers at the police station and signs, stepping away from the life she had envisioned.

To heal, the estranged couple embarks on the honeymoon they had planned—Mauritius. It’s here that a new complication arrives in the form of Jo, played by Shraddha Das, who is sweet on Bujji. Raja grows jealous as Jo tries to win him over, and she disrupts their dates in an attempt to create distance between husband and wife. One day, Jo attempts to coax Bujji into a closer moment, but Raja’s proximity and jealousy lead to a heated confrontation. Bujji and Raja argue about what happened during their wedding. Raja claims she acted out of shock, a claim that accompanies her insistence that she once consumed a poison used to kill sharks, though she survives the ordeal. Jo, witnessing the reunification in Mauritius, is both thrilled and saddened—she longs for reciprocation that never comes, and Bujji reassures her that she will find a better match.

Back in India, Chamundeshwari learns of their reunion and feverishly pushes for Raja’s second marriage, fearing the loss of control over the family’s political power. When Bujji and Raja arrive home, the household refuses to accept Raja, and Bujji is forced to leave with her. Yet he refuses to abandon her, defies the henchmen, and returns to confront the situation. Raja’s family is eventually reconciled with Bujji’s kin after a tense standoff, during which Chamundeshwari’s attempt to force Raja into a contractual second marriage is met with resistance. Raja’s Mangala Sutra remains a sign of commitment, and Chamundeshwari’s insistence on removing it ends with a clash that brings the two families to a reluctant, uneasy peace.

In the end, the couple’s bond proves stronger than the storms that tested them. After a series of misunderstandings, accusations, and near-separations, Raja and Bujji reconcile, choosing to move forward together and rebuild the life they had begun to form. The film closes on a note of quiet resolve and renewed commitment, with both families accepting the couple’s decision to stay united.
