Murali, also known by friends as Idhayam Murali, rings his friends Vinoth and Kishore to tell them he plans to end his life, overwhelmed by a one-sided love for Madhu. Yet his admission of loving her moves Madhu, and the engagement is postponed by a year.

One year later, life moves on and Kishore invites Vinoth and Murali to his wedding. [Vinoth] is injured in an accident, so Murali attends the ceremony and also performs with his music crew, Meyadha Maan. Murali and Madhu clash over a room allotment, and Murali walks out of the wedding after realizing that both Vinoth and Kishore are determined to ensure he does not torture Madhu during the marriage. Madhu is pained to hear that Murali still does not know about the drama on that suicide night.

Meanwhile, Sudarvizhi, Murali’s sister, learns about her brother’s one-sided love for Madhu and falls for Vinoth. She creates a rift with Vinoth, who refuses to see her anything more than a sister. Murali learns that Sudarvizhi is in love with Vinoth and happily assures her that he will help marry them. Vinoth remains unaware of Sudarvizhi’s feelings, and he interprets her quarrel as a result of trauma from illness.
