In the hill town of Ooty, Seenu Varun Dhawan — still known by his nickname, Seenu — fails his final exam by two marks and hatches a reckless plan: kidnap the professor’s daughter during her wedding and demand two extra marks in exchange for her safe return. The scheme falls apart when the girl slips away just as Seenu’s parents walk into his house, leaving him to face the consequences of a botched plot.

Despite the fiasco, Seenu’s Manoj Pahwa pushes him toward a steadier path by offering a job at his shopping mall, but Seenu is determined to earn a degree at Tift College in Bengaluru. On a train bound for the city, he steps in to defend a group of teenage girls from a menacing gang, revealing a surprising streak of courage. When he reaches Bengaluru, a friend reluctantly allows him to stay at his place while he figures out his next move.

At Tift College, Seenu prays to Krishna to focus solely on his studies. Soon he notices Sunaina Goradia Ileana D’Cruz, a middle‑class girl who largely ignores him at first, and a spark forms. Sunaina, however, reveals a painful truth: she has been pressured into an engagement with a corrupt policeman named Angad Negi Arunoday Singh because her father was duped into shooting Angad’s ally Peter Rajpal Yadav. Angad’s men pursue Seenu, but Seenu fights back and defeats two of them, prompting Seenu to seek a truce with Angad and request that Sunaina be left alone. Angad offers a gauntlet of a challenge: he gives Seenu three days to win Sunaina’s heart. The public proclamation works in Seenu’s favor — Sunaina gathers courage, repels Angad’s gang, and finds herself drawn to Seenu.

The tension spikes when Angad discovers the budding romance and tries to shoot Seenu, but ends up wounding Peter instead. The ensuing media frenzy leads to Angad’s suspension, yet the trouble is far from over. Sunaina is soon kidnapped and whisked away to the mansion of Vikrant Singhal [Anupam Kher], one of Asia’s most notorious gangsters. Vikrant’s daughter Ayesha Singhal [Nargis Fakhri] — who had crossed paths with Seenu on the same train — is revealed to be entwined in this dangerous web as well. Angad and Peter inform Vikrant that to reach Seenu they must capture Sunaina first, forcing Seenu into a perilous trap that could coerce him into marrying Ayesha.

Desperate, Seenu travels to Vikrant’s Bangkok residence. There, he crafts a ruse to fool Vikrant and his associate Balli (Johnny) into thinking that he intends to marry Ayesha, but he asks for ten days to get to know her, a request Vikrant grudgingly grants after Ayesha urges him to “do as Seenu says.” Seenu and Ayesha spend a day together, but he confesses that he does not love her. Meanwhile, Sunaina reconnects with Seenu and, despite her initial resistance, she cannot help but feel drawn to him; she even resists his advances, leading to a tense moment where she asks him to leave.

As the situation unfolds, Sunaina’s feelings tilt toward Angad through a coincidental turn of events, while Seenu harbors sentiments for both Ayesha and Sunaina and tries to balance the tangled loyalties. The pair devise a plan: Sunaina dresses in Ayesha’s identical clothes to evoke mistaken identity, prompting Angad to fall for what he believes is Ayesha, while Ayesha grows suspicious of the ruse. Angad realizes that Ayesha’s true feelings belong to him and decides to marry her, not Sunaina. Vikrant accepts this, and informs Seenu that Ayesha will wed Angad.

Seenu pretends to be devastated by the news but secretly celebrates the turn of events. Vikrant presses Sunaina to marry Seenu, claiming that his plan was always to unite Ayesha and Angad, not simply to win her hand. Sunaina, who has been outwardly resistant, is driven by love and commitment to accept Seenu. In the end, Seenu and Sunaina marry, bringing closure to a whirlwind of schemes, loyalties, and heartache, even as the dangers from Vikrant’s world linger just beyond the ceremony.
