New York arrival and first street fight

Arriving in New York City with no money, Lyon is drawn to an illegal street fight run by a tramp named Joshua Eldridge. He volunteers for the next bout and defeats his opponent, catching Joshua's eye. Joshua then reunites him with Cynthia Caldera, an unscrupulous organizer of underground fights who agrees to sponsor him and dubs him 'Lionheart'.

Cynthia's sponsorship and Sonny fight

Cynthia sponsors Lyon, arranging a no-holds-barred fight against Sonny, a taunter who preys on his opponents. Lyon defeats Sonny easily, proving his prowess and earning Cynthia's confidence. The victory paves the way for a broader scheme to bring Lyon into the higher-stakes circuit.

He spares Attila's life, overturning Cynthia's plan and ensuring his family is cared for with his winnings.

Capture and release by the Legionnaires

The Legionnaires capture Lyon after the fight, but, moved by his niece's farewell cry, they release him a few blocks away and wish him luck with his new life in America. The act of mercy marks a turning point in Lyon's relationship with his past and his future. He walks away with a sense of vindication and purpose.
