Harikrishnan, a famous movie director, Mammootty is found dead at his house one morning. Deputy Superintendent of Police Achuthankutty, Mohanlal, is assigned to lead the probe and quickly begins gathering facts, witnesses, and the tangled web of motives surrounding the director’s life.

Anilkumar, Rahman, Harikrishnan’s younger brother, is introduced as a romantic interest of Shilpa, Karthika, who had personally known the director and is deeply shaken by his sudden death. The investigation widens as clues mount: a woman’s shoe at the murder scene and other fragments suggesting female involvement sharpen the focus on suspects.

A photograph of a woman in Harikrishnan’s diary leads Achuthankutty to a middle-aged woman: Parvathi, now Bhagini Sevamayi, who has long renounced her identity and lives in a Hindu ashram. Parvathi, Unni Mary, is arrested when she refuses to answer questions, and Shilpa attempts to speak with Achuthankutty as Bhagini turns out to be her aunt.

Shilpa’s mother, Sripriya, later reveals more about the director’s tangled past and the complex dynamics with Shilpa, suggesting that Harikrishnan’s role in her life was ambiguous—whether purely paternal or something more intimate—since Shilpa had no other father figure to lean on. Achuthankutty, driven by these revelations, begins to piece together the long-buried memories of Harikrishnan’s youth.

In their youth, Harikrishnan was often flirtatious, and the past shows a relationship with Parvathi. Parvathi warns him about his flirtatious nature and his possible harmful intentions, but Harikrishnan denies these claims and maintains his loyalty. The story also recounts a dark chapter where Harikrishnan rapes Shilpa’s mother, a betrayal that shatters Parvathi and leads her to seek a life as a nun. Parvathi’s heartbreak intensifies the pain of the past and foreshadows how fragile trust can be when secrets go untold.

The truth about Shilpa is revealed: she is Harikrishnan’s illicit child, and her mother feared that the director might repeat his pattern with his own daughter. She admits she had planned to kill Harikrishnan, but she arrived only to find him already dead. This revelation deepens the emotional stakes and adds a dangerous layer to the case.

As the interrogation resumes, Achuthankutty confronts Shilpa and her mother with renewed intensity. Anilkumar’s brother, Anilkumar, Rahman, tries to intervene, but it is too late. Anil Kumar confesses his own feelings for Shilpa and reveals that he killed Harikrishnan out of jealousy, though he insists it was an accident. He then takes his own life, leaving Achuthankutty to confront a web of jealousy, misdirected loyalties, and tragedy.

With Anilkumar’s suicide, the detective burns the suicide note and acknowledges that the case remains unsolved in the sense that the true culprit cannot be pinned down, leaving a chilling sense of unresolved guilt and the lingering question of who was truly responsible for Harikrishnan’s death.
