In a quiet village, Mohan, an honest and hardworking farmer, toils to earn an honest living while Vani, the daughter of a wealthy landlord who lives in the city, spends her days amid city comforts yet finds the village’s simple life inviting. Their paths cross during a visit to the countryside with friends, and a warm, unforced affection blossoms between them, deepening into love as they share small joys and the patient rhythm of rural days. Yet their budding romance must contend with the wily Kannan, Vani’s cousin and suitor, whose own schemes and ambitions shadow the couple’s growing bond.

Meanwhile, a spacecraft cuts through the heavens, bearing two aliens who resemble ordinary humans. Their world has made striking strides in science but is painfully short on the arts, and they come to Earth with a single mission: to identify a gifted artiste who can teach their people music and dance. Among the planet’s performances, Thinna, the commander-in-chief, is not impressed at first—until he hears Vani sing. Her talent captivates him, and he decides that she is exactly the person their culture needs to revive its artistic spirit.

After a moonlit rendezvous with Mohan, Vani is seized by the aliens and carried aboard their ship. Thinna drags her away, while Malla stays behind on Earth for a while longer. On their distant world, the king assures her she will return once she has taught them dance and music. Vani remains defiant, though the princess Rajini offers the captive musician some kindness. Ultimately, Vani agrees to share her art across the alien realm, and she begins teaching Rajini and the others, hoping to preserve her own sense of identity even as she adapts to an alien world.

Back on Earth, Vani’s father blames Kannan for his daughter’s disappearance, setting off a chain of decisions that echo through the village. Kannan pursues clues and encounters Valli, a mentally deranged girl who bears a striking resemblance to Vani. Assuming Valli is Vani, he abducts the girl and brings her home. Saddened by the sight of his daughter’s look-alike in distress, Vani’s father consents to Kannan’s marriage to the girl he believes is Vani, leaving the real heiress effectively out of reach and the family’s fortunes tangled in tragedy.

Mohan discovers a crucial clue when he spies Malla one night as the alien prepares to return to his home planet. A tense skirmish follows, and Malla is killed. Thinna arrives on the return journey to collect Malla’s body, and Mohan seizes a desperate chance: he drags Malla’s corpse out of the ante-chamber and leaps into the chamber himself as the ship lifts off. Thinna, unaware of the human stowaway, launches toward his planet with the body it believes to be Malla. When the planet’s atmosphere reveals the truth, Mohan survives the crash-landing and finds himself on a distant world where fate serendipitously places him in the company of a kind-hearted jester traveling toward a palace.

That jester guides Mohan to a home on this alien world, where chance and fate conspire as the jester is struck down by a passing meteor. The resemblance between Mohan and the jester proves useful, and Mohan steps into the jester’s life and, in time, into the palace. There, he encounters Vani and, at last, reveals his true identity. The two lovers—rooted in earthly love and tested by interstellar upheaval—work together to outwit the shrewd Thinna and make their way back to Earth.

Back on their home soil, the consequences of their trials unfold. Kannan’s crime is exposed, and he is brought into custody for his actions against Valli. Mohan and Vani return to their village life, their bond tempered by love and ordeal, while the community around them reckons with the extraordinary journey that began in a quiet romance and stretched across planets and fates. What happens next transpires the crux of the story.
