Four desperate meth addicts—Donald, Kari, David, and Spot—scramble for their next fix while money runs thin and options dwindle. Amid the tension, they weigh a risky plan: push Kari to exploit her dealer’s sympathy, but ultimately decide that David, the group’s leader and designated driver, should handle the deal with Tai, their long-time supplier. Tai makes an unusual offer: drugs in exchange for a brand-new flat-screen TV as a birthday gift for his mother. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and David agrees to take on Tai’s request to secure the TV for his mom.

The search for the coveted flat screen takes the group to an upscale neighborhood, Verterra Hill, where they believe a well-furnished home will yield a quick theft. They break into what appears to be an empty residence, locate the television, and stuff it into the back seat. Yet as they root through the house, Donald stumbles upon a troubling stash—child pornography DVDs and photographs of a couple with their young daughter. The discovery hits hard for Donald, who carries his own history with pedophilia; he becomes furious and confronts Spot, torn between shielding the stash and turning it over to the authorities. The tension within the group sharpens the moment of crisis.

The home’s residents return—Connor, the homeowner, followed closely by his wife Jennifer and their daughter Mia. Donald’s violence escalates as he attacks Connor and binds him, followed by Jennifer and Mia being restrained as well. In the chaos, Mia manages to slip away and make a 911 call, signaling that this burglary has escalated into something far more dangerous and unpredictable. What began as a routine break-in quickly spirals into a high-stakes hostage situation, with police cars converging on the scene and a negotiator team taking charge.

The hostage crisis draws in Tai, who calls to check on the progress of the “delivery.” Learning about the standoff, Tai instructs Donald to stay out of contact until he can escape, and then he discards his burner phone in a lake. The standoff becomes a chess match of strategy and emotion: Lt. Tarelli, a seasoned hostage negotiator, and his colleague Walters navigate past failures from prior rescue attempts and the group’s internal strains. Donald presses for a televised audience, demanding that a TV crew be brought in to interview him and to reveal the parents as pedophiles. In a calculated move, Lt. Tarelli sends officers posing as a film crew to stage a hostage rescue, turning the situation into a controlled, cinematic intervention rather than a straightforward arrest.

As the rescue operation unfolds, violence erupts. Kari is killed, a knife to the throat sealing her fate, and Connor is shot by a SWAT team during the chaos. David and Spot are captured and taken into custody, while Jennifer and Mia are debriefed and released back home. Back at the command center, Walters commends Lt. Tarelli for a “successful” rescue, a judgment that sits uneasily given the cost in lives and the group’s broken trust. In the aftermath, Jennifer discovers a voicemail left by her late husband Connor—an angry warning that he would expose the stash and reveal that Jennifer herself is a pedophile—further complicating the emotional landscape of the surviving characters. She deletes the message, resuming her routine with a hollow sense of normalcy.

The closing beat echoes the film’s themes of desire, guilt, and the consequences of crossed lines. Tai reappears in a final, quiet moment, breaking into a police impound lot to recover the TV that sparked everything, suggesting that the cycle of crime and consequence circles back to its origin.
