Now he finds himself caught between the affections of two women: Sunita, Moon Moon Sen, a wealthy daughter of Thakur Bhanupratap Singh; and Madhu, Mandakini, a poor girl living with her parents Hariya and Tara, each believing Shankar is hers alone. To complicate matters, Amita, a powerful patron, hires him to spy on the Thakur’s household—on Bhanupratap, his sons Balram and Jackie, and his associate Kedar—and Shankar takes a job as a driver in that house, reporting his findings back to Amita.
