Quintero, Fernando Rey, a revolutionary in late 19th century Mexico, is seized by the Federales as he tries to mobilize those who oppose President Díaz. Before his imprisonment, he entrusts his lieutenant, Maximiliano O’Leary, Reni Santoni, with $600 to keep the fight alive. The money comes with strings and expectations: bandit boss Carlos Lobero, Frank Silvera, demands that it be used to arm a renewed push against the dictatorship. But Max has his own sense of loyalty and strategy, and soon his mission takes a sharper direction as he follows a tip about a legendary American gunman.
