Forty-five years after the original Godzilla’s assault and demise, Akane Yashiro Yumiko Shaku, a maser-cannon technician lieutenant with the Anti-Megalosaurus Force, faces a brutal baptism by fire when she encounters a new member of Godzilla’s species during a first clash at Tateyama. In the heat of combat, fear overtakes her and she panics, knocking a tank from the road; Godzilla steps on it, and the soldiers inside are lost. This devastating moment leads to a demotion for Akane and sets into motion a bold, high-stakes plan: scientists, including single father Tokumitsu Yuhara Shin Takuma, are tasked with building a cyborg mecha from the skeleton of the original Godzilla.

The result is the MFS-3 Kiryu, a fusion of human piloting and advanced machinery, and it is integrated into the Japan Xenomorph Self-Defense Forces (JXSDF) along with its elite pilots, the Kiryu Squadron. Akane becomes the primary pilot, but the shadows of that first fight haunt her, and one squadron mate—2nd Lieutenant Susumu Hayama Yûsuke Tomoi—hates her because his brother was among the fallen. The personal and professional tensions weave through the unit as they prepare to test a weapon that could redefine humanity’s defense against Godzilla’s onslaught.

Four years pass before Kiryu is unveiled in a global presentation that showcases its remote systems, the command aircraft network, and the controversial Absolute Zero Cannon. Just as the public spectacle begins, Godzilla returns, and Kiryu is launched into battle. The encounter takes a troubling turn when Godzilla’s roar triggers near-memories within Kiryu itself, sending the giant machine into berserk mode even as Godzilla withdraws. The Kiryu Squadron watches in horror as their flagship roars into chaos, and the rampage only ends when Kiryu’s energy reserves are exhausted and it must be towed back for repairs.

Back on the home front, Akane must navigate not only the external threat but the fragile dynamics inside her unit. Hayama presses to push her aside, while Yuhara tries to reach out and understand her, forging a tentative bond that sharpens when he introduces Akane to his young daughter, Sara Kana Onodera. The girl’s presence adds a layer of humanity to a battle-scarred world and helps Akane see the cost of the long war in fresh, personal terms. Sara’s warmth becomes a beacon amid the cold calculations of war, and Akane finds herself drawn to a quieter kind of courage beyond destroying monsters.

When Godzilla mounts another attack, Kiryu returns to battle, and the fight resumes with renewed urgency. The repaired machine initially gains the upper hand, pressuring Godzilla and threatening a decisive strike. Yet the moment of truth arrives as Kiryu powers up the Absolute Zero Cannon for a point-blank blast. Godzilla, undeterred, deflects the blast with a precise retaliatory attack, knocking Kiryu off balance. With the remote piloting system offline and Kiryu effectively stranded, Akane makes a bold move: she orders Hayama to bring his command craft closer so she can enter Kiryu’s internal backup cockpit and regain control.

In a decisive, intimate confrontation, Akane takes the helm, piloting Kiryu directly to close quarters with Godzilla. The plan hinges on timing, courage, and the machine’s raw power. As the collision unfolds, Akane drives Kiryu’s thrusters to push both behemoths toward the open sea, where she fires the weapon at close range. The blast leaves Godzilla wounded and retreating, but Kiryu bears the scars of the fight, its systems strained and its future uncertain. Nonetheless, the mission achieves a hard-won victory—the threat is repelled, and Kiryu is hauled back to base for extensive repairs.
