Henry Brogan, portrayed by Will Smith, is a seasoned ex-Marine Scout Sniper turned assassin for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). On one particular mission aimed at eliminating a faceless terrorist aboard a high-speed train, Henry’s instincts kick in when he notices a young girl approaching his target. This moment of hesitation leads to him firing a shot that hits the man in the neck instead of his intended target—the head. Disillusioned by the act of killing, he decides to retire from his perilous line of work.

As he starts to adapt to civilian life, Henry encounters Dani, a boat rental manager played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and reconnects with an old friend named Jack, portrayed by Douglas Hodge. Jack reveals to Henry that an informant, Yuri, played by Ilia Volok, has claimed that Henry’s target was innocent, prompting Henry to seek further proof via a meeting arranged by Jack. However, unbeknownst to him, the agency heads, including director Lassiter, portrayed by Linda Emond, have plans to eliminate him for uncovering their deceit. The operations chief, Clive Owen, attempts to get permission to dispatch Henry but faces refusal.

Soon, Henry discovers that Dani has been sent to surveil him, yet he chooses to form a bond with her, fully aware of her true mission. After a break-in at his home by agency operatives leads to the deaths of his spotter and Jack, Henry warns Dani, and together they manage to fend off their attackers, realizing that the agency wants them both eliminated.

Seeking refuge in Colombia, they turn to Henry’s former colleague, Benedict Wong, for guidance and hope to make contact with Yuri. Meanwhile, Clive dispatches a relentless assassin to hunt down Henry, who comes to the shocking realization that this assassin bears an eerily similar appearance to him as a youth and possesses comparable skills. The dangerous assassin, known as Junior, wrestles with his own identity as he receives conflicting orders.

In moments of survival and discovery, it becomes clear to Dani that Junior is Henry’s genetically identical clone. After testing DNA samples, the truth hits them hard: Junior is a younger version of Henry, a product of a clandestine cloning project. As the stakes grow higher, Henry learns the tragic story behind his clone’s creation during a tense meeting with Yuri in Hungary.

With intentions to sway Junior away from the dark path imposed by Clay, Henry seeks Lassiter’s assistance to bring Dani back safely. In a twist of fate, Junior, initially sent to trap Henry, becomes an ally when Dani covertly aids Henry using a hidden device in her tooth. Together, they confront their adversary, clashing with Clay, who views Junior solely as an extension of his own ruthless ambitions.

After an intense showdown resulting in casualties on both sides, Henry, Dani, and Junior face a formidable operant clad in protective gear, stripped of human emotion and pain perception. After another brutal confrontation, they ultimately defeat the impenetrable foe, only to discover that the combatant was yet another cruel product of the cloning technology.

In a gripping final confrontation with Clay, Junior stands at a crossroads, torn between following in the footsteps of his creator or forging his own path. Ultimately, Henry steps in to deliver judgment, carrying the weight of their tumultuous past as he takes down Clay once and for all.

With the threat of further clones extinguished, Henry later meets with Junior, who adopts the identity of “Jackson Brogan,” after Henry’s mother’s surname, as he embarks on a new journey of higher education. Now, Henry and Dani look forward to a brighter, more hopeful future for Jackson, free from the shadows of their past lives.
