What Is Framed About?
The premise of Framed in 250 words, with nothing given away. The full story follows below.
In a city balancing precariously between the rule of law and the pull of the underworld, Rose Manning carries a wound that five years have done little to heal. Her father’s death at the hands of Inspector McArthur’s officers planted a resolve deep within her — a promise of vengeance that has shaped every decision since. Now the composed hostess of a popular nightclub, Rose moves through a world of late nights, guarded smiles, and patrons whose intentions rarely align with virtue.
The atmosphere she navigates is thick with competing interests. Bootleggers and officials share uneasy space, each side watching the other with wary suspicion. Among those drawn to Rose’s orbit is Chuck Gaines, a liquor supplier whose interest in her extends well beyond business. His attentions are persistent, unwelcome, and hint at the dangers that come with operating in a city where power is always in flux. Yet Rose remains focused on a single goal, letting nothing — and no one — divert her from settling an old score.
Everything changes when she crosses paths with young Jimmy Carter, a man whose presence stirs something unexpected in her hardened heart. Rose finds herself drawn to protect him, only to discover that his connection to the man she despises runs deeper than she could have imagined. As genuine affection begins to complicate her carefully laid plans, Rose must weigh her thirst for justice against feelings she never anticipated — all while the city around her trembles between order and chaos.
