Mike Hanson [Ryan Paevey] is a professional Whalers football player who, just after healing from another injury, finds himself placed on injured reserve. While he recovers from cracked ribs, he heads back to his hometown to stay at his brother Jimmy [Dan Payne]’s place. There, a chance invitation lands him in the role of assistant coach for his niece Zoey Hanson [Piper Scott]’s all-girl flag football team, a position that comes with its own set of expectations and dynamics.

Erin Allen [Pascale Hutton], a single mother and real estate agent, watches her 12-year-old daughter Kira [Sophia Powers] try out the flag football scene. When Kira notices the all-girl team during practice and finds that her male teammates won’t pass to her, she convinces Erin to help her join. Erin reaches out to Jimmy to enroll Kira, only to discover that Mike—a college ex of Erin’s—now sits as an assistant coach for the same team. The reunion is tense at first; Erin hopes to protect her heart, while Mike keeps his guard up, still smarting from the past. Erin confides in her real estate partner Georgina [Kalyn Miles], admitting she has bumped into Mike again and that their breakup still stings.

Meanwhile, Jimmy and his wife Danielle Hanson [Heather Doerksen] test the waters of family life and basketball-tinged conversation as they prepare to support the team. A fundraiser for the Whalers’ flag-football program becomes a social crossroads: the coordinator is surprised to see both Danielle and Erin stepping forward to seek Mike’s help, unaware of their deeper connections to him. A sleepover with Kira’s teammates gives Erin a moment to reflect on what she wants, while Georgeina’s steady presence helps keep the business and emotional sides of life from colliding too abruptly.

As the all-girls’ team advances toward the final, the competition intensifies and Mike’s career trajectory becomes a focal point. Mike’s manager, Richard [Steve Bacic], reappears with the news that he has been reinstated on the Whalers, pushing Mike toward a tough choice about his future. The tension climaxes as Mike is urged to return to the team immediately, with Richard arguing that Erin’s influence is pulling him away from what’s best for the sport. Erin reminds Richard that he had once pushed her to move on from Mike for the sake of a potential draft, underscoring the personal stakes involved.

With the final on the horizon, Mike contemplates a strategic move that mirrors what the girls did on the field: a clever, game-winning play built on misdirection. He is reinstated on the Whalers just in time for a crucial decision in the last moment of the final. After the game, Richard challenges Mike for not scoring the final goal, but Mike reveals that the team manager offered him a pay adjustment to stay longer in his professional role, a proposal he accepts, effectively ending his relationship with Richard as his agent.

In a moment of clarity and commitment, Erin appears at the stadium and declares she will stand by Mike no matter what. Mike, moved, tells her he plans to stay with the Whalers and finish his career there. The two finally acknowledge their renewed feelings and share a kiss, sealing a future built on honesty, loyalty, and a shared love for the game.
