Jenny Greengrass and Steve Taylor embark on a serene retreat to Eden Lake, a hidden gem in the beautiful English countryside, where their relationship serves as the only spark for their tranquil escape. As they make their way through the picturesque scenery, Steve expresses his apprehensions about the deterioration of societal values and the challenges of contemporary parenting. Unbeknownst to them, their peaceful getaway is on the verge of being disrupted by a rowdy gang of teenagers, with the cunning Brett at the helm.

The morning after their arrival, Jenny and Steve are alarmed to find their food has been ravaged by insects, leading them to suspect that the raucous youths are behind the chaos. During a visit to a local café, Steve shares this concern with a waitress who fiercely defends her children, claiming they would never stoop to such behavior. Undeterred, Steve resolves to uncover the truth and sneaks into what he presumes to be the teens’ hideaway, only to make a hasty exit when the irritable homeowner, Jon, returns unexpectedly.

As their idyllic retreat deteriorates into turmoil, Jenny and Steve soon realize that their dependable jeep and belongings have vanished, leaving them with no option but to make the trek back on foot. They narrowly escape a confrontation with Brett and his gang, who have stolen their vehicle. That night, after locating the gang’s den deep in the woods, Steve confronts them, but tensions escalate when Brett’s fury erupts over the fate of his dog.

In the midst of the chaos, Jenny attempts to escape but is intercepted by the gang, leaving Steve helpless and trapped. Their desperate attempt to flee takes a catastrophic turn as their jeep crashes, isolating Steve in the clutches of his captors. In a shocking turn of events, during her escape, Jenny inadvertently causes the death of Cooper, a young gang member who had tried to assist her. This act sends Brett into a furious rage, compelling him to brutally kill yet another gang member. Meanwhile, as Paige flees in terror, she soon meets her gruesome end at the hands of a now fierce Jenny, who commandeers a van in her desperate quest for liberation.

Stumbling back into town, Jenny recklessly drives through the streets, ultimately crashing into a lively backyard gathering. Hours later, she wakes to the soothing care of a kind woman and Jon, whose faces are etched with concern. However, the atmosphere shifts when it becomes evident that the deceased gang members were the very children of the adults hosting the party, turning Jenny’s world upside down. She realizes she has inadvertently walked into Brett’s territory, rendering her escape futile.

In a frantic attempt to secure her safety, Jenny locks herself in the bathroom. Yet, Jon, driven by rage, forces the door open and storms in, unleashing a wave of fury that Jenny desperately tries to fend off. At the same time, Brett cunningly manipulates the situation by convincing Jon and two other men that Jenny and Steve were responsible for the murders of his friends, a deceit that triggers a violent reaction from the trio against the unsuspecting Jenny.
