Johan “JW” Westlund is a bright, ambitious student in Stockholm’s bustling scene, stemming from a modest Norrland upbringing where his father tends the sawmill (with a drinkable shadow) and his mother works at an employment agency. He leads a second life beneath the surface: while he appears to live the life of a stylish “stekare,” he actually drives a taxi illegally to fund a lavish lifestyle on the prestigious Stureplan. A chance romance with the elegant Sophie pulls him deeper into a dangerous world, and JW finds himself drawn into the orbit of organized crime when Abdulkarim — who runs the taxi business — offers him a job to help launch a cocaine operation. The lure of quick money, status, and affection tempts JW into a path he never imagined, one that blurs lines between loyalty and survival.

Jorge Salinas Barrio is a Chilean exile who has spent time in prison for drug trafficking and has now escaped again, determined to outpace the law. He knows cocaine inside and out and hatches a plan to settle old scores while pulling off one last, monumental cocaine delivery before he disappears for good. His target is not only Radovan Kranjic, a Serbian Mafia boss, but also those who wronged him, and his every move is a calculated scheme to secure freedom and revenge. The tension rises as Radovan’s empire tightens its grip, and Jorge’s path inevitably intersects with JW’s burgeoning drug world.

Mrado Slovovic is a hard-edged hitman who works for the Serbian mob. He is sent by Radovan to track down Jorge and eliminate the threat Jorge poses to the crime network. Yet Mrado bears the heavy burden of another duty — he must also bring along his eight-year-old daughter on dangerous assignments because her mother struggles with addiction. The interplay of criminal duty and paternal responsibility adds a taut, human strain to Mrado’s brutal professionalism, coloring the collision course of these three men with a fragile personal history.

As these three lives converge, the dream of easy money becomes a shared fantasy. JW and Abdulkarim aim to scale their cocaine enterprise, convinced that Jorge’s knowledge could accelerate their ascent. Jorge, having escaped prison with hard-won intelligence about the drug trade, tries to outmaneuver Radovan’s network. Mrado remains a looming threat, tasked with snuffing out Jorge if necessary. The story moves to a high-society jet-set sphere where JW crosses paths with Sophie and discovers that the collapse of Jet Set Carl’s father’s investment bank could be the perfect vehicle for laundering their vast profits. JW conceptualizes a daring plan: leverage the bank’s troubles to spike its value by buying shares, turning a failing institution into a money-laundering engine that would clean the cocaine cash. Abdulkarim nods to the plan, and JW becomes the front man in a calculated scheme to manipulate the market, bending the rules of finance and power to suit their needs. The operation hinges on trust, risk, and timing as they move toward a major, audacious transaction that could redefine their futures and trap them in a web of crime and deception.

Across Europe, JW and Abdulkarim’s men travel to meet Jorge’s drug dealer collaborators in Germany, learning the practical rituals of smuggling and concealment. The dealers reveal astonishing methods — injecting drug capsules under the skin of dogs and concealing capsules in cabbage leaves — a surreal peek into the ingenuity of criminal supply chains. The plan matures into a deal for a 40-kilo shipment of pure cocaine, and the team debates where to securely place the money. JW is skeptical of a Swiss account and counsels alternatives like Andorra or Liechtenstein, a counsel that earns him the trust of the criminals and a greater stake in the operation. Yet Jorge warns that the payoff may never actually arrive, a realization that unsettles JW and tests the depth of his new-found loyalty.

A dangerous confrontation unfolds when Mrado arrives at JW’s residence with his daughter in tow and proposes a two-million-krona raid against Abdulkarim’s drug shipment. JW agrees, on the condition that no one gets hurt, a condition that quickly proves untenable. The drugs arrive in an eighteen-wheeler packed with cabbages, and the warehouse becomes a battlefield as Jorge, Abdulkarim’s crew, and Mrado collide in a furious firefight. One of Abdulkarim’s men is gravely wounded, and the brutal momentum shifts as JW realizes he has been double-crossed. Radovan, ever vigilant, calls the police to halt the illicit exchange, and a riotous chase erupts through the warehouse, onto rooftops, and into a car. Mrado’s Serbian ally is severely wounded, and Mrado himself is fatally injured after a daring escape that JW ultimately counters with force. JW, the least harmed of the trio, shoots Mrado and fires at pursuing officers to enable Jorge’s escape, but JW surrenders to the police, his path now sealed by the consequences of his choices.

The film closes with JW in prison, his arms marked by tattoos reading “JW” and “Camilla,” a stark reminder of a family ripped apart by crime. Sophie visits him, a quiet, stubborn tenderness between them, yet she announces she is leaving Sweden to stay with her parents in France. She asks if JW cares for her, and though his silence suggests uncertainty, his posture hints at a lingering, unspoken attachment. As she departs, she delivers a message from Jorge: Paola has given birth to a baby girl.
