This revelation ignites a rather unorthodox idea within Herb: he concocts a plan to travel to Denmark, orchestrate a bank robbery, and thereby gain entry into a Danish prison to vastly improve his living conditions. Opting for a cargo ship, he manages to stow away and arrives in a quaint Danish port town. However, once there, his courage falters, and he finds himself unable to carry out the bank heist he had meticulously planned.

In a twist of fate, Herb encounters Mathilde, a local barmaid, and a large stray dog who becomes his companion. Through these new friendships, he begins to realize the futility of his robbery scheme. As he contemplates returning to the UK, his circumstances take a turn for the worse when he finds himself short of funds for a ferry ticket home. In a moment of desperation, he attempts to procure a ticket using a replica firearm.
