Puang's pact with the ghost (1854)

On a wounded battlefield in 1854, Puang encounters a ghost dressed in black who offers him life in exchange for serving as her host. She removes her tongue and forces it into his mouth, binding Puang to her will. From then on, the ghoul uses Puang as an immortal vessel to claim victims across the years.

Puang becomes the ghoul's immortal host

The ghoul controls Puang for centuries, turning him into the living weapon through which she reaches out to kill. He hides in plain sight, never fully freed from the parasite's hunger. The ghoul's violence continues through Puang’s body long after the initial pact.

Yak becomes a hunter (1975)

In 1975, three years after Yam's death, Yak dedicates himself to hunting evil supernatural beings to avenge his sister. He teams up with Sarge to track the ghoul responsible for his family’s misery. Their vow marks a personal crusade against the haunted past.

The group enters Dong Khomot forest

Yak, Sarge, and their companions enter the Dong Khomot forest, a realm where many malevolent beings reside. They are joined by Luechai, his nephews Jirasak and Nawin, Sem the necromancer, and Khom the porter. The forest tests their nerves as they push deeper toward the ghoul.

Sem killed by a king cobra

A king cobra blocks their path and killing Sem underlines the forest’s lethal dangers. The group regroups, aware that every step could bring a supernatural threat. The incident foreshadows the peril that lies ahead.

Jirasak panics, violence erupts

Terrified by Sem's ghost, Jirasak panics and opens fire on the group, killing Khom and then shooting at his own head. The trust within the group collapses as fear spreads. The survivors struggle to proceed with the mounting chaos.

Nawin devoured by a werecat

Nawin is separated from the others and is devoured by a werecat, which later imitates his form to lure the living toward doom. The loss deepens the danger and heightens the sense that the forest itself is guiding their fate. Yak, Sarge, and Luechai press on with caution.

Trio reaches sacred salt lick and meets Puang

Yak, Sarge, and Luechai reach a salt lick considered sacred ground. The next morning they encounter Puang, alive after more than a century, bound as the ghoul's host. Puang explains how an earlier ritual was interrupted by Luechai's ancestors and how his amulet keeps him hidden from the ghoul.

Puang's arm severed; ghoul emerges

Seeking to expose Puang and end the binding, Luechai cuts off Puang's arm. The ghoul appears, kills Luechai and Puang, and retrieves her tongue, strengthening her grip on the scene. Puang hints that the ancient ritual failure left him alive but vulnerable to her power.

Ghoul invades the hotel for Yad's wedding

While the forest confrontation continues, the ghoul travels to Yak's family hotel for Yad's wedding, spreading a drowsy whisper to lull the guests. Pradit is possessed and attacks the family until they knock him out with a Buddha figurine. The wedding becomes a battleground between the living and the supernatural.

Boonyen and Yee hunted; Yad's vision

The ghoul possesses Boonyen and sends her to hunt Yee with a pickaxe. Yee evades Boonyen and Chauy's ghost, both under the ghoul's control. Yad, separated from her family, experiences a vision of Yam before the ghoul strikes again.

Yak and Sarge confront the ghoul; invisibility with amulet

Yak and Sarge face the ghoul in the hotel, with Puang's amulet rendering Yak invisible to her during the fight. Yad also wears Puang's amulet to aid in the confrontation. They struggle to hold the line as the ghoul presses her advantage.

The ghoul demands Yak reveal himself

The ghoul grabs Yad and threatens to throw her from a window unless Yak removes the amulet and reveals himself. Yak agrees to expose himself to save Yad, buying time as Sarge braces for the worst. The standoff escalates the danger of the living against the supernatural.

Tongue extraction and final destruction

Yad, wearing Puang's amulet, pulls out the ghoul's tongue, allowing Yak to cut it off. Sarge destroys the severed tongue, weakening the ghoul until she is cornered. Yak pounds the takrut on her forehead, freeing the ghosts of her victims.
