A young camper hides from an unseen force in the woods and discovers an old cabin. He becomes frightened and flees, as a mysterious presence closes in around him. When the police arrive later, they find the campers have vanished without a trace.

Brothers dodge military camp via identity swap

Dylan and Dane are sent to a military camp after a house fire sparked by a rocket bought with their mother's credit card. They plot to swap places with two Camp Bushwhack counselors, convincing them to take their spots at the military camp. The brothers then travel to Camp Bushwhack posing as Sanjay and Delroy.

Arrival at Camp Bushwhack and a rogue cabin

The brothers arrive at Camp Bushwhack and immediately destabilize a dysfunctional cabin. Dane starts a rivalry with the bunk’s counselor Brogan, escalating tensions. They hide Brogan's trophy, the Nameless Cup, in an old cabin and discover a creepy backpack filled with scary stories—the same cabin tied to the 1972 disappearance.

Campfire stories reveal Anson Miner legend

When they tell scary stories around the campfire, the group reads about Anson Miner, a former Camp Whispering Lake counselor. In the tale, Anson drowns and is revived by a doctor, returning as a brain-eating zombie who kills others. The antidote seems to cure most, but Anson remains undead, foreshadowing the real danger.

Weird signs appear: mustache and a shadow in the woods

The next day, Dylan notices odd occurrences—a camper named Lauren grows a mustache like the stories described, and he glimpses Anson lurking in the woods. He tries to discuss the strangeness with the camp manager, but is brushed off. The lines between fiction and reality begin to blur.

Crawl explains the legend and rule against scaries

Dylan asks camp manager Crawl about the no telling scary stories rule, and Crawl reveals a dark history. Camp Bushwack was once Camp Whispering Lake, where all the campers vanished. To keep the danger at bay, the camp forbade telling scary stories, and the book found in the old cabin is likely connected to the vanished campers.

Dylan warns others; Dane is attacked

Dylan attempts to warn the campers at the campfire, but his warnings go unheeded. Later on a hike, Dane is attacked by Anson, proving the threat is real. The brothers realize they may need to act to protect everyone.

Seeking safety in the animal hospital; an escape plan

To avoid Anson, the group retreats to an animal hospital to lay low. They attach a remote controlled collar to Anson, hoping to curb his behavior and restore some of his old personality. The device buys them time but does not fully cure him.

Brogan confronts Anson and breaks the remote

Brogan searches the hospital for the Nameless Cup and confronts Anson. In the confrontation, he breaks the remote control, causing Anson to revert to his zombie state. The threat surges back as a result.

Return to camp; zombie attack escalates

The campers return to Camp Bushwhack and are attacked by Anson and Brogan. The brothers rally the others and drive the zombies away. Dane reveals he sustained a scratch during the battle, heightening the danger level.

Antidote mission restores hope

Genius Bar and Grinsberg are sent back to the hospital to retrieve the antidote created from the book lore. They succeed, and Sanjay and Delroy, the real campers who escaped boot camp, rejoin the group. The rescue plan comes together just as the threat resurges.

Antidote cures all; celebration and burn the book

Using the antidote, the zombie turned campers are cured, including Dane who was briefly undead. The group celebrates with a Hawaiian party and burns the book that sparked the nightmare. The immediate danger subsides, but a sense of unease remains.
