Bharat Ane Nenu 2018

Set in 2013, in a unified Andhra Pradesh, Bharath Ram, Mahesh Babu, a bright and curious student, graduates with his fifth degree from Oxford. After the celebrations, his uncle reveals a crushing turn of events: his father, Raghava Rao, the Chief Minister of the state, has died of a stroke. Bharath returns home and begins to sift through memories of a childhood spent mostly with his mother and his best friend Subhash, while his father pursued the arduous task of building a political party alongside Varadarajulu, the party’s president, Prakash Raj. A small broken promise from the past echoes in the family’s life, and Bharath’s mother scolds him about the weight of commitments before passing away in her sleep, an event that leaves a lasting scar on the young man.

Raghava Rao now steps in to care for him, but Varadarajulu presses for political continuity by suggesting Bharath remarry and gain a new mother for the sake of stability. A new child, Siddharth, arrives with the new wife, complicating the family dynamics. Bharath’s early attempts to bond with his stepmother falter, and he retreats to Subhash’s house, a place of old loyalties and familiar rhythms. When Subhash’s family moves to London for work, Bharath contemplates joining them, and his father reluctantly agrees, sensing the pull of distant possibilities.

A flashback unfolds: Bharath returns to India for his father’s funeral. Varadarajulu explains that his father had been hospitalised, attributing it to the cold and noting that Siddharth performed the final rites, a detail that fuels speculation about who will lead the state next. The atmosphere is chaotic, and Bharath is introduced to seasoned politicians like Sripathi Rao and Manohar. Just as Bharath contemplates returning to London, Varadarajulu cancels his ticket and proposes Bharath as the next Chief Minister. Bharath resists the idea, warning that his inexperience could trigger intra-party conflict, but the party leadership overrules him, and Bharath ascends to the role of CM. He quickly asserts control, applying strict policies and fresh ideas to restore law and order, which earns him the ire of the opposition.

As his public profile rises, Bharath falls for Vasumathi, and he makes a bold move by calling her up to ask her out, a moment that marks the beginning of a personal conflict intertwined with his anti-corruption agenda. He starts to push for an inquiry into money laundering among politicians, a plan that Varadarajulu blocks by inviting him to a private party where they plot behind closed doors. Undeterred, Bharath commits himself to eradicating corruption from politics.

The political tension intensifies when Ramana and other youths from Kakinada confront Bharath, accusing an MLA named Damu of corruption. A by-election follows, with Damu’s son Raghu challenging the results. Bharath rallies the people, encouraging Ramana to stand as an independent candidate, while Damu’s henchmen strike hard: villagers are killed, prompting Bharath to deploy undercover police to safeguard Ramana. A tense confrontation unfolds when Damu’s officers attempt to kill Ramana in a cinema, but Bharath arrives just in time to thwart the ambush. After defeating the henchmen, Damu withdraws, and Bharath moves to establish local governance despite stiff resistance from the assembly.

However, Varadarajulu stages a damaging reveal—an affair between Bharath and Vasumathi—sparking accusations of nepotism and threatening Bharath’s political legitimacy. He resigns as CM, and Varadarajulu becomes the new chief, while Vasumathi and her father relocate to their native village. Bharath responds with a calculated press conference aimed at debunking sensationalism, and public scrutiny intensifies as citizens press MLAs for Bharath’s reinstatement. An investigative trail leads Bharath and his Security Officer Mukhtar Khan to Odisha, where they uncover that journalist Mitra Brahmapur had met with Raghava Rao before his death and exposed Varadarajulu’s corruption.

Facing mounting pressure, Varadarajulu contemplates a final, drastic move—planning to kill Bharath. A violent chase ensues, with Mukhtar shot in an ambush, but Bharath and his allies survive and corner Varadarajulu’s henchmen in an abandoned area. The villagers who support Bharath join the stand-off outside Varadarajulu’s office, and the confrontation ends with Varadarajulu confessing to having poisoned Raghava Rao’s medicines in an attempt to paralyse and kill him, driven by fear of inquiry into his own corruption. Bharath gives Varadarajulu 24 hours to admit the crimes to the public and surrender; when the ultimatum passes, Varadarajulu takes his own life.

With the legislature dissolved, Bharath wins the by-election and restores his role as Chief Minister, vowing to root out corruption across the state. Arrests are made as corrupt politicians are brought to justice, and the film closes with Bharath proposing marriage to Vasumathi, signaling a new chapter both personally and politically.
