In a moment of desperation, the trio of expelled bullies chases Chen Nian one day with boxcutters and a cage of rats, pushing her to seek shelter at Xiao Bei’s home. He agrees to protect her as she studies for the college entrance exam, walking her to and from school each day, and the two gradually grow closer.
