Aarav Kapoor is an ambitious young Indian designer whose dream is to craft innovative cars. He travels to the United States in search of greener pastures, where he meets the radiant Anna Virvani, a firm believer in destiny. Anna falls head over heels for Aarav almost instantly, while he remains focused on building his career. As time passes, he softens, their bond deepens, and his professional path climbs higher when a prominent American auto company’s chairman offers him a designer position. This chairman just happens to be Anna’s grandfather, and upon learning about their romance, he joyfully declares their betrothal, setting the stage for a life entwined with both opportunity and obligation.

Aarav, eager to marry Anna, explains that he must return to India to care for his ailing father, but his real plan is more personal: he intends to obtain a divorce from his childhood sweetheart, Kajal, whom he hasn’t seen in three years. Years earlier, his parents had pressured him into marriage with Kajal, and he left for the United States on their wedding night, a union that was never consummated. Kajal, learning of Aarav’s intentions, makes a determined effort to win him back. She yields only when Aarav confesses that he is in love with another woman and no longer loves Kajal. He arranges for Kajal to sign the divorce papers and submits them to his lawyer. Kajal, who had been living with Aarav’s parents, moves out, and guilt gnaws at Aarav as he begins spending time with her again. He soon discovers that Kajal has built a thriving export company selling locally made saris and has become fluent in English. This new understanding reveals a depth to Kajal that Aarav had not seen before, and the two spend a day revisiting their shared childhood memories, slowly rekindling old feelings.

Meanwhile, Anna arrives in India. Her grandfather decides that since Aarav is already there, their wedding should take place in India as well. Aarav reveals the truth about Kajal to Anna, and she forgives him. He introduces her to Kajal, and Anna privately asks Kajal whether she feels that Anna stole Aarav away. Kajal reassures her that Aarav’s marriage was primarily an agreement between two families, not a romance she could claim as hers. Anna admires Kajal’s independence, and the two women begin to form a cautious friendship. Kajal decides to attend the upcoming wedding, hoping to give her love a proper funeral.

Before the ceremony, Kajal asks Anna to wear her old wedding jewelry and helps her prepare, but Kajal cannot bear the sight of Aarav marrying someone else and slips away from the wedding grounds. The moment of upheaval arrives when Aarav’s lawyer interrupts the proceedings to reveal that the divorce is not yet final because Aarav never signed the papers himself; signing them then would finalize the split and allow him to marry Anna. Yet, in a revealing twist, Aarav finds himself unable to sign, realizing that his heart still belongs to Kajal. Then, the skies open up and rain begins to fall.

Anna senses the truth: Aarav’s heart still beats for Kajal, and Kajal’s love for Aarav remains. She interprets the rain as a sign that he should not complete the divorce and argues that, without meeting Anna, Aarav might never have recognized his real feelings for Kajal. She urges him to return to Kajal. When her grandfather threatens to derail Aarav’s career, Anna stands firm, declaring that Aarav is destined to be with Kajal, even if his love for Kajal is slightly stronger in the moment. > “he just loves Kajal a little more.” According to Anna, destiny favors Kajal.

With that realization, Aarav finds Kajal at the childhood place where they used to play and confesses that his love for her has always been there, only hidden until now. They share a heartfelt kiss and decide to rekindle their life together. Anna watches with a quiet smile, grateful for the clarity she’s found, and then travels back to the United States, leaving the two of them to their renewed future.
