Madhusudan Dutta, a young man from Kolkata, has a quite unique reason for wanting to marry a foreigner—specifically a Canadian girl—to secure Canadian citizenship, which he believes will bring him better opportunities in life. His journey begins at the passport office, where he unexpectedly meets Riya, a sophisticated and modern girl with dreams of studying fashion design in Canada. Because Madhusudan struggles with English, he pretends to be injured to ask her to fill out his passport application form, leading to their first encounter. They cross paths again at the airport, where their frequent disagreements hint at their contrasting personalities but also set the stage for their evolving relationship.

Riya, in her pursuit of a better life abroad, searches for suitable accommodation in a foreign land. She eventually finds a charming house, but her plans take a sudden turn when she is robbed by two thugs while withdrawing money from an ATM. Facing financial difficulties, she is forced to look for a more affordable place to stay, which serendipitously brings her back together with Madhusudan, as they end up sharing an apartment. Their cohabitation becomes more complicated when Jenny, a kind-hearted Canadian Caucasian girl and step-daughter of the house owner, arrives at the house. Riya encourages Madhusudan to propose to Jenny so that they can work towards securing his stay in Canada. Madhusudan goes along with this plan but soon discovers that Jenny is planning to go to Africa for social service, leading him to abandon her heartbroken.

Their landlord, the house owner, kicks them out due to the turmoil. Undeterred, Madhusudan and Riya find work at two different Horo Parboti restaurants run by a married couple who are temporarily estranged. During their time working there, they learn that the restaurant is at risk of being repossessed by the bank due to unpaid property loans. The duo then cooperates to help the married couple reconcile, which not only saves the restaurant but also brings Madhusudan and Riya closer emotionally. Despite their growing affection, neither is willing to admit their feelings openly.

Madhusudan gradually realizes that he is in love with Riya, especially when her fiancé, Captain Bikram, arrives to take her back to India for their wedding. Feeling heartbroken, Madhusudan departs for India, determined to bring Riya to him, but he is devastated to learn that she has married Bikram. As time passes, Madhusudan encounters Bikram at a cinema hall, where Bikram reveals that Riya is still single. Seizing this opportunity, Madhusudan rushes to propose to Riya, and the story culminates with the couple happily living their lives together.

Throughout this journey, the characters experience love, heartbreak, ambition, and hope, illustrating the complexities of relationships and dreams in a foreign land. Their story is a heartfelt tale of how unforeseen circumstances and genuine emotions shape their paths toward happiness.
