The film opens with a young Jyothi, Veronika Arora, who is suddenly terrorized by a shadowy presence in her family home. Her father, Zamindar Rajasekhar, Sampath Raj grows to resent Jyothi, blaming her for the death of her mother at birth, and he ships her off to a boarding school in a bid to keep her out of sight and out of trouble.

Many years later, a court rules that Rajasekhar must open a secret room inside the village temple. He is terrified and furious at the intrusion, but the authorities discover nothing inside. Soon after, Durai, the palace manservant and driver, Vincent Asokan dies by electrocution in a seemingly random accident. Jyothi, now an adult and returning for Durai’s funeral, falls in love with her childhood sweetheart, Saravanan, Arya. As she settles back into the old house, she realises that the same restless spirit that haunted her as a child is now haunting her young relative Shalu, played by Ovi Bhandarkar.

One night, Shalu is drawn into a perilous encounter. She is nearly crushed by a falling chandelier, but a portrait of Jyothi’s late mother, Eeshwari, intervenes and saves her life. Jyothi’s otherworldly visitors grow more violent, and Shalu’s life is put in jeopardy when she is doused in paint thinner and chased by flames. Shalu’s father, Ravi, a recurring guardian figure, Sundar C, helps protect her, prompting Jyothi to urge him to investigate the mysterious happenings for Shalu’s sake.

Ravi’s investigation leads him to Eeshwari’s room, where he discovers a troubling photograph: Jyothi’s parents alongside three servants, with the faces of two servants scratched out. An encounter with Eeshwari’s spirit follows, and shortly after, the third servant in the photo is murdered. To break the haunting, Jyothi and Ravi summon priests to exorcise the palace. They manage to trap one ghost, but the other spirit survives and manifestly possesses Saravanan. Ravi explains to Jyothi that this is Eeshwari, the murdered wife, who was responsible for the earlier killings and for the attack on Shalu. His warning sets off a chain of fear and urgency around the family.

At this point, Rajasekhar seeks help from Saamiyaadi, a hermit priest. In a series of flashbacks, the film reveals a dark past: Rajasekhar forcibly married Eeshwari after falling for her at the wedding of Saamiyaadi’s son, Samikannu. When their child is born and bears a striking resemblance to Samikannu, Rajasekhar realizes that Eeshwari was already pregnant at the wedding. He murders the child and kills Eeshwari, then substitutes Durai’s newborn daughter as his own. Samikannu later steals Eeshwari’s body and tries to revive her with black magic, only to witness her return as a ghoul and abandon him in the forest. Eeshwari then kills the midwife who poisoned her child and threatens Rajasekhar. Saamiyaadi helps devise a plan to destroy the spirit his son’s revived evil, but in the process, Samikannu is killed and Saamiyaadi withdraws to mourn.

In the present, Eeshwari reveals to Saamiyaadi that Rajasekhar did not kill Samikannu; rather, Durai killed him on Rajasekhar’s orders. Eeshwari’s plan is to replace the soul in Jyothi’s body with that of her dead child, believing that Jyothi is living the life her own child should have had. Saamiyaadi raises Samikannu’s spirit to help in the siege against the ghosts. Ravi and Jyothi trap Eeshwari’s child’s spirit and bring it to the priests who once aided them. The trio of spirits—Eeshwari, her child, and the man who aided the revival—are finally banished during a holy festival, freeing Saravanan and Jyothi.

In the quiet aftermath, Saravanan and Jyothi marry, signaling a hopeful future and hinting at the possibility of a sequel where the past might remain buried no longer. The film blends family drama with supernatural menace, weaving a story of betrayal, vengeance, and enduring love that lingers long after the credits.
