Sivaji is an unemployed man driven by a desperate need for money to fund his mother’s medical treatment. He lies to his family about heading to the United States and travels to Mumbai to hunt for work. On arrival, he immediately loses his luggage but then reconnects with his old friend Ramesh, who makes a living by cheating people. With few options left, Sivaji partners with Ramesh and, along with Pedda Koteswara Rao and Cheecha, enters the world of conning and orchestrates a bank robbery. The plan initially targets a clean, easy haul, but Cheecha betrays the group by tipping off the police and pointing the blame at Koteswara Rao, who had masterminded the operation. Before the police can arrest him, Koteswara Rao stashes all the money in a locker at a different bank, leaving everyone else in the dark about the money’s true location.

Meanwhile, in Mumbai, a blind elderly couple—Zamindar Bhupati, also called Raju, and his wife—live a comfortable life as wealthy Telugus. Their son and daughter-in-law are dead, and they have grown dependent on a local paan seller to read letters because they can no longer read English themselves. One day, they receive a telegram, and the paan seller cannot interpret it, so they ask Ramesh to read it aloud. The message hints that their grandson Bujji will visit Mumbai after six months, but Ramesh senses an opportunity and misreads the timing, telling the couple that Bujji will arrive the very next day.

Ramesh then engineers a ruse, introducing Sivaji as Bujji to the old couple to hide the police investigation from their knowing eyes. The old couple have a remarkable ability: they remember the voice and touch of anyone they meet. As the deception unfolds, they claim that Bujji has a girlfriend in the United States. Enter Radhika Rani, who arrives and introduces herself as Bujji’s girlfriend, posing a new obstacle to Ramesh and Sivaji’s plan. Radhika Rani quickly discerns that Sivaji and Ramesh are not legitimately deceiving the old couple for money, and she reveals that Bujji died in an accident back in the states. Yet the old couple, buoyed by the belief that Bujji exists, choose to keep the facade rather than shattering the illusion — and Radhika decides to stay.

Driven by desperation, Ramesh steals a valuable idol from the old couple’s home to sell it for quick cash. Sivaji confronts him and pleads to maintain the lie because their cover depends on keeping up appearances for the couple’s sake. The tension escalates when the old couple’s memory and trust come into play, and they seem to embrace the presence of Bujji and his supposed girlfriend. As events unfold, Raju’s wife arrives calling for Bujji, and Ramesh arrives just in time, motivated by a mix of guilt and loyalty. In a moment of elderly warmth and forgiveness, Raju welcomes Ramesh and Sivaji back with open arms, cherishing the sense of family and continuity that the bogus identity has created.

The film culminates in a blend of raw human emotion and comic misdirection, leaving the old couple content in their illusion and the two men reconciled with their own choices. It’s a story that weaves themes of love, deceit, loyalty, and the unexpected tenderness that can surface when a family’s faith and affection are tested in the most unlikely of places.
