Past Events:

During a vacation with his wife Anisha and daughter Jenny, Abraham Ozler finds his peaceful escape suddenly interrupted by a call informing him about a double murder. Without hesitation, he leaves his family behind in their car to investigate. However, midway through his journey, Ozler discovers that the call was a hoax, orchestrated to lure him away. Panicking and desperate, he rushes back to find that both his wife and daughter are missing. The horrifying truth begins to unravel when a drug addict named Vineeth confesses to kidnapping Anisha and Jenny, revealing that he had brutally hacked them into pieces and buried their remains in a forest as an act of revenge against Ozler for arresting him on drug charges. Vineeth admits to the crime but claims he was under the influence of a large dose of prescription drugs that night, which has erased his memory of the exact locations where he buried the remains.

Fast forward three years, and Ozler has become a man plagued by deep depression, sleep disturbances, and frequent hallucinations, symptoms of his chronic insomnia. He is haunted by the inability to find his missing wife and daughter’s remains, visiting and questioning Vineeth regularly, who is now convicted but unhelpful. Meanwhile, Ozler is also investigating a series of gruesome murders alongside his colleagues, SI Divya Sreedharan and SI Sijo T Venu. The killer, who dubs himself “The Birthday Killer,” leaves behind birthday cards at each crime scene, each inscribed with fragments of a haunting Latin quote:

“Let conversation cease. Let laughter flee. This is where death rejoices to help the living.”

As they work to understand the killer’s identity, they uncover the former lives of the victims’ parents—Shivakumar and Selvaraj—who were postgraduate medical students at Kozhikode Medical College in 1989. It turns out that these men, along with Xavi Punnoose (Jagadish) and Alexander Joseph (Mammootty), were once friends and batchmates. They had a mysterious accident during their studies, which caused a rift.

A Violent Past Unveiled:

The past resurfaces when Krishnadas breaks into Ozler’s house, attempting to abduct him before being thwarted and arrested. Even in custody, Krishnadas’s presence remains dangerous—soon, Xavi is kidnapped, revealing a sinister connection. Ozler uncovers that the “Alexander” spotted in Dubai was a fake, and the real Alexander, alive and active, had kidnapped Xavi. The true Alexander tries to murder Xavi in a gruesome manner similar to the previous victims but is ultimately captured by Ozler just in time. During interrogation, the real Alexander confesses to his twisted motives.

Flashback to 1989:

Alexander was a dedicated surgical student at Kozhikode Medical College, revered for his skill. Xavi Punnoose, jealous and resentful, was less competent but desperately sought recognition. Shivakumar, a general medicine student, harbored resentment after Alexander started a relationship with Suja Jayadev (Anaswara Rajan), a first-year MBBS student, whom Shivakumar had been pursuing obsessively. Selvaraj, studying anesthesia and battling drug addiction, was expelled after Alexander caught him high, leading to a bitter rivalry.

When Krishnadas was admitted to the college with a tumor affecting his voice, Alexander was assigned to assist in his surgery. He chose Xavi as his helper, but during the operation, Xavi, driven by jealousy, was ordered to sever Krishnadas’s vocal cords. This act resulted in Krishnadas losing his voice permanently. Alexander reported Xavi’s misconduct, which led to Xavi’s suspension and blacklist status. Enraged, the expelled students—Shivakumar, Selvaraj, and Xavi—attacked Alexander in a drug-fueled assault, leaving him in a coma. After recovery, they staged a tragic accident and fabricated stories of Alexander’s drunken recklessness, leading to the death of Suja (Anaswara Rajan) when she, grief-stricken and depressed, took her own life. Alexander awoke from coma days after her death, with amnesia erasing most of his memories from that period, including Suja, Xavi, Shivakumar, and Selvaraj.

Over the years, Alexander gradually recovered memories from a TV broadcast featuring Krishnadas, reigniting his past. He connected with Krishnadas, and together they plotted the murders—an act of revenge deeply rooted in their shared history of betrayal and tragedy.

The Present:

Back in the current timeline, Xavi ([Jagadish]) meets his end unexpectedly during a stage appearance after revealing a revelation about Alexander. Ozler, witnessing this, reflects bitterly that Xavi deserved that fate, especially after discovering that he had poisoned Xavi and the other victims with methylene blue and agar-agar, bacteria-infected surgical ink used during their mutilations. The truth is gradually uncovered—Shivakumar was found dead in his car, and Selvaraj’s life unraveled as his wife left him, recognizing the chaos he caused for their family.

While visiting Vineeth in prison, Ozler encounters the remaining perpetrators. Alexander cryptically utters “Bone Residue”, a phrase hinting at an unsolved mystery. Ozler realizes that the killer’s method involved bladed weapons, and trace bone residue would always remain on a blade even after chemical cleaning, exposing hidden truths. Confronted with Vineeth about this detail, Ozler presses for answers, as Vineeth, unrepentant and cryptic, challenges him to search deeper into the disturbing secrets of his family’s past.
