Miranda, Shobana, a young woman living in Mumbai with her mother, returns to her late father’s ancestral home in Kerala after a bitter rift with her mother. After his death, Miranda’s mother begins bringing men into their house, and some of these visitors try to molest Miranda. When her mother decides to marry one of these boyfriends who tries to grope Miranda, she flees to Kerala and seeks shelter in her father’s ancestral home. At first, she hesitates, but her grandfather Appooppan, Thilakan, welcomes her warmly. Her father’s sister Bhargavi, KPAC Lalitha, is hostile toward her.
