How to Search Movies Your Way
Three steps that combine: type a title, narrow 231,880 films with filters, then change the order. The address bar follows every change, so any search can be bookmarked or shared.
- 01
Search Movies by Title
Results update as you type. Titles match from their first letters, one typo is forgiven, and alternative titles count, so a film's original title finds it too.
- 02
Filter by Genre, Language & Mood
Keep one genre, one language or a release decade, only films with a plot summary, or open the mood filters to ask for a tone, an ending, a pace or a level of complexity.
- 03
Sort the Search Results
Best match comes first for a title and the newest releases otherwise. Switch to top rated (by Echo Score), the oldest releases, or A to Z.
Movie Search: Questions & Answers
How the search covers 231,880 films, how results are ordered and how to search by mood or language.
How many movies can I search?
231,880 films, released from 1900 to 2026. 15,779 of them have an Echo Score, our 0–100 rating, and 41,096 have a plot summary, 2,877 with the ending explained.
Plot summaries & endings explained Can I search movies by mood?
Yes. Films with a plot summary are tagged by tone, ending, pacing, intensity, complexity and emotional weight. The most common ending is happy (15,049 films), and 4,050 films end on a bleak note. Open "Mood filters" in the search to combine them with a genre or a year.
Films with a happy ending How are the search results sorted?
With a title in the box, the best match comes first: exact titles before partial ones, and bigger, better-rated films first among equal matches. Without a title, the newest releases come first; films that are not out yet come last. "Top rated" orders by Echo Score, our 0–100 rating, and puts films with a plot summary or a known budget first, so a livestream or festival short rated by a handful of people does not lead. You can also sort by the oldest releases or A to Z.
Why can’t I find a movie?
Titles match from their first letters and forgive one typo, and alternative titles count too, so try fewer words or the original title. Filters narrow the search further: a genre, a language, a year or a mood filter can hide the film you want. Mood filters only find films that have a plot summary.
Can I search movies in other languages?
Yes: pick a language in the filters. English has the most films (114,830), followed by French (12,503) and Japanese (12,031). 93 languages with 10 or more films have their own page with the best-rated films and the biggest hits.
