Walter Noel Greaza (pronounced Gree-zay) was an American actor whose career spanned over four decades across stage, radio, film, and television. Born on January 1, 1897, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Albert Edward Greaza and Mary Elizabeth Frickelton, he pursued higher education at the University of Minnesota, where he studied business law and political science while also participating in the university's drama organization. His early life was interrupted by World War I, during which he served in the U.S. Navy, an experience that shaped his discipline and dedication to his craft. Greaza's professional acting career began on Broadway in 1927 with Love in the Tropics, and he continued to appear in numerous stage productions throughout the 1930s and 1940s, including notable works such as Ceiling Zero (1935) and Auntie Mame (1956).

Beyond his stage work, Greaza made significant contributions to the entertainment industry behind the scenes, serving as the national administrative chairman of the American Guild of Variety Artists in 1942 and as assistant executive secretary of Actors Equity in 1943. In 1948, he married actress Helene Ambrose, and they remained together until her death in 1966. Greaza was also honored as the Shepherd (president) of The Lambs from 1953 to 1956, a prestigious theatrical organization. His television career was equally impressive, with memorable roles including The Chief on Treasury Men in Action (1950–55) and Winston Grimsley on The Edge of Night, which he portrayed from 1956 until his death. Additionally, Greaza was a prominent voice on radio, starring as Steve Wilson in Big Town and playing Inspector Ross on Crime Doctor. Greaza passed away on June 1, 1973, at the Kew Gardens General Hospital from cardiac arrest, leaving behind a legacy as a versatile and dedicated character actor.
