Tyne Daly, born as Ellen Tyne Daly on February 21, 1946, is a highly celebrated American actress known for her wide-ranging roles in movies, theater, and television. Her career spans six decades, garnering her numerous awards including six Emmys and a Tony Award. She is also a prestigious inductee of the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 2011. Daly made her acting debut in the summer stock stage in New York and later broke into Broadway with the play 'That Summer – That Fall' in 1967. Her best-known television role is that of Detective Mary Beth Lacey in CBS's 'Cagney & Lacey' (1982–88). Other notable roles include Alice Henderson in 'Christy' (1994–95) and Maxine Gray in 'Judging Amy' (1999–2005). In addition to her television career, Daly has starred in a number of successful films, including The Enforcer (1976), Hello, My Name Is Doris (2015), and Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017). She has been widely recognized for her talent, even receiving a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female in 'A Bread Factory' (2018).
