Türker İnanoğlu (18 May 1936 – 2 April 2024) was a pivotal figure in Turkish cinema and television, whose multifaceted career spanned over six decades as a screenwriter, director, and producer. Born in the historic town of Safranbolu, Karabük, Turkey, İnanoğlu first encountered the world of cinema while studying at the Istanbul Academy of Applied Fine Arts in 1957, a pivotal moment that would define his future trajectory. He began his professional journey as an assistant director, working alongside acclaimed filmmakers Ömer Lütfi Akat and Nişan Hançer on eleven feature films, absorbing the technical and artistic nuances of the craft before making his own directorial debut in 1960 with Senden Ayrı Yaşayamam (I Can't Live Apart From You). This debut marked the beginning of a prolific directing career that would eventually encompass 82 feature films, establishing him as one of the most productive directors in Turkish cinematic history. In 1959, demonstrating remarkable entrepreneurial vision, İnanoğlu founded Erler Film, which remains the oldest continuously operating film production company in Turkey. Under his leadership, the studio served as the foundation for his extensive body of work that includes 126 black-and-white and color productions, among them 21 international co-productions with Greece, Italy, and Iran, cementing his reputation as a cornerstone of the national film industry.

Beyond his contributions to traditional cinema, İnanoğlu was a visionary media entrepreneur who revolutionized Turkey's entertainment landscape across multiple platforms. In 1979, he pioneered the country's video distribution industry by establishing Ulusal Video, which supplied approximately 1,500 video clubs with domestic content, playing a crucial role in sustaining Turkish cinema during a severe economic crisis. His influence extended into television, where he established a production studio in 1985, creating iconic programs such as Bir Başka Gece, Hodri Meydan, and Gecenin Getirdikleri for TRT, and later producing over 10,000 hours of content for private channels including Star TV, Show TV, and ATV. His leadership as president of ATV in 1994 helped transform the channel into a sector leader, while his establishment of Süper Kanal further diversified Turkey's media ecosystem. İnanoğlu's personal life included marriages to legendary Turkish film stars Filiz Akın and Gülşen Bubikoğlu, with whom he had two children, İlker and Zeynep. Committed to preserving his legacy for future generations, he established the Türker İnanoğlu Cinema Foundation in 1997, transferring all production copyrights to this charitable institution dedicated to social and educational advancement in Turkish cinema. He passed away in Istanbul on April 2, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving behind an indelible mark on the nation's cultural heritage.
