After moving to Los Angeles, Bagley began studying with The Groundlings in 1989, quickly becoming a fixture of their Main Stage Company where his sharp timing and character work earned him a reputation as a versatile performer. Although he stepped away from the Main Company in the mid‑1990s, he continues to return for the all‑improv show Cookin' with Gas, showcasing his love for spontaneous comedy. Transitioning to television in the early 1990s, Bagley landed guest spots on series such as Diagnosis: Murder and Seinfeld before securing his first regular role on Showtime’s Sunny Skies, a now‑forgotten project created by Howie Mandel.
