Taye Diggs, born as Scott Leo Berry on January 2, 1971, is a renowned American actor known for his roles in Broadway musicals, television series, and films. Some of his most recognized appearances are in 'Rent', 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch', 'Private Practice', and 'All American'. He also starred in movies such as 'How Stella Got Her Groove Back', 'Brown Sugar', 'Chicago', and 'The Best Man'. Diggs was born in Newark, New Jersey, and took on the surname Diggs from his mother's second husband. He received a BFA in musical theatre from Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts in 1993.

Born into a family with artistic inclinations, Diggs made his Broadway debut in the 1994 revival of the musical 'Carousel'.
