Stephen Colbert is an American comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor and television host whose career has reshaped modern satire. Born Stephen Tyrone Colbert on May 13, 1964 in Washington, D.C., he grew up as the youngest of eleven children in a devout Catholic family before moving to Charleston, South Carolina, where a tragic plane crash claimed his father and two brothers, an event that deeply influenced his worldview.
