Sonya Walger: Movies & Box Office

Sonya Walger, born on 6 June 1974, is a well-known British and American actress. She began to gain popularity through her starring role in the HBO sitcom The Mind of the Married Man from 2001–2002, before securing her role as Penny Widmore in the acclaimed ABC drama series Lost from 2006–2010. Walger's acting prowess can also be seen in other series like Tell Me You Love Me (2007), FlashForward (2009–2010), Common Law (2012), The Catch (2016–2017) and For All Mankind (2019–2022). Born and raised in Hampstead, London, Walger is well-educated – having studied English Literature at the respected Christ Church, Oxford, and achieving a first-class degree. Aside from English, she is also conversational in French and fluent in Spanish, reflecting her Argentinian heritage from her father's side.

Walger kicked off her screen career in British television, and her first appearance was in an ITV crime series, Midsomer Murders in 1998. Following this, she secured a recurring role in the BBC 1 sitcom Goodnight Sweetheart in 1999. Moving to the U.S in 2001, she made a mark as Donna Barnes in the HBO comedy series The Mind of the Married Man. Other notable roles include Nicole Noone in TNT television film The Librarian: Quest for the Spear and roles in CSI: NY and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Not limited to television, Walger also appeared in the Broadway production of Frost/Nixon and film Admission. Recently, she starred as NASA astronaut Molly Cobb in For All Mankind on Apple TV+ and announced the writing of her book 'Lion' to be published in 2025.
