Born on 16 September 1923 in Paris, France, she became one of the recognizable faces of post-war French film, contributing to a remarkable collection of cinematic works during a transformative period in European filmmaking. Sylvestre passed away on 29 March 2020 in La Bruffière, France, at the age of 96, leaving behind a rich legacy in French cinema. Her career began in 1941 with her debut in Ne bougez plus, directed by Pierre Caron, followed by Premier rendez-vous by Henri Decoin, which marked the start of a fruitful professional relationship with the acclaimed director.
