Beyond directing, Tsukamoto is a prolific actor, appearing in works by Martin Scorsese (Silence, 2016), Takashi Miike, Hideaki Anno (Shin Godzilla, 2016) and many others, demonstrating a versatility that has influenced western auteurs such as Quentin Tarantino and the Wachowskis.
