Boucher, served as mayor, and her relatives held positions in the Louisiana State Legislature and municipal government. After adopting the stage name Savannah Smith, she debuted in Five Days from Home (1978) and quickly became a recognizable supporting player, appearing in notable films such as North Dallas Forty (1979), The Long Riders (1980), and Everybody's All‑American (1988).
