Rupert Wyatt: Movies & Box Office

Rupert Wyatt, born on the 26th of October 1972, is an English filmmaker known for his substantial contributions to the movie world. He debuted as a director with the 2008 film The Escapist, which premiered at the renowned Sundance Film Festival. This was followed by the 2011 blockbuster, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and then the 2019 sci-fi flick, Captive State. In 2021, he took the reins on the first two episodes of the television adaption of The Mosquito Coast, where he also served as an executive producer. He was raised near Winchester in Hampshire, and he was educated at the Dragon School, Oxford, and Winchester College, Winchester. Wyatt is also the founder of the film collective Picture Farm, which has produced a myriad of shorts, documentaries, and features, including the Sundance Award-winning documentary Dark Days. He has proven himself immense in directing, co-writing, and directing the British prison escape thriller The Escapist. His much-anticipated X-Men spinoff Gambit fell through due to scheduling conflicts, but he picked up in 2019 with the sci-fi film Captive State. In 2023, he embarked on the production of his first animated feature film, The Sunrise File, a French / American co-production. 2025 will see the release of Desert Warrior, his upcoming feature film and a 7th Century historical epic. Wyatt’s versatility continues to hold audience hope for his next film as director, a thriller named Boxman.
