Rob Minkoff: Movies & Box Office

Robert Ralph Minkoff, known as Rob Minkoff, was born on August 11, 1962, and is a celebrated American director, animator, and producer. His career, spanning since 1985, has been marked with distinct works, notably co-directing The Lion King and directing several live-action films including Stuart Little, The Haunted Mansion, and The Forbidden Kingdom. His ventures aren't limited to just animation and live-action, as his journey also includes his return to feature animation through Mr. Peabody & Sherman and Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank. Raised in a Jewish family in Palo Alto, California, Minkoff discovered his passion for animation at the age of 15, leading him to his studies at Palo Alto High School and the California Institute of the Arts. His inspirations ranged from storied illustrators such as Christopher Finch to prolific animator, Chuck Jones.

Minkoff started his formidable career at Walt Disney Productions in 1982, learned from senior animator Eric Larson, participated in acclaimed projects such as The Black Cauldron, The Great Mouse Detective. Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and The Little Mermaid. A turn in his career came when he got a chance to direct a live-action film leading to his work on The Lion King alongside Roger Allers. Minkoff's endeavors also saw him teaming up with famed producers and directors, taking part in exciting projects, and creating his own production company. His personal life is as rich as his professional one, where he met his wife Crystal Kung Minkoff and has two children with her. Minkoff is continuing to influence the film industry and leaving his imprints in various formats of cinema.
