Ric Reitz: Movies & Box Office

Kenric Lowell Reitz, known professionally as Ric Reitz, was born on September 8, 1955 in Rochester, New York, where he grew up as the middle child of five creatively inclined siblings. From an early age he demonstrated a dual passion for sports and the arts, starring as the Polynesian boy Jerome in a community production of South Pacific at age eleven while also excelling as an all‑star baseball player in Henrietta. He graduated with honors from Rush‑Henrietta High School in 1973 and pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Radio/TV/Film at Bowling Green State University, graduating cum laude in 1977. Reitz’s first professional engagement came with the Arts Centre Theater Company of Rochester, where he performed in repertory productions from 1977 to 1979, followed by summer stock stints at Mendon Playhouse and appearances with the Tic Toc Players. After a period of itinerant work between Rochester, New York City, and Los Angeles, he settled in Atlanta in 1981, the same year he married fellow Rochester native Noel Janet Bagrowski. Reitz’s on‑screen career began with a small role in the TV movie Case Closed and has since expanded to lead performances in feature films such as The Last of Robin Hood (alongside Kevin Kline, Susan Sarandon and Dakota Fanning), Where the Devil Hides (with Colm Meaney and Rufus Sewell), and The Loft (featuring Karl Urban, James Marsden and Rachael Taylor). He is also noted for recurring television roles on series like Revolution, Drop Dead Diva and Surface, and currently serves as president of SAG‑AFTRA Atlanta. Beyond acting, Reitz is an active member of the DGA, WGA, Recording Academy, BMI and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences; he leads Ric Reitz Writes, Inc., a celebrated writing and production firm, and oversees Sir Fir Books & Music, an award‑winning children’s publishing and music company. His entrepreneurial spirit extends to partnership with Georgia Entertainment Credits and former leadership roles with the Georgia Production Partnership and Georgia Film Advisory Commission.
