After completing his education in post‑war Tokyo, he entered the entertainment field in 1954, signing with the talent agency Arts Vision, which would represent him for the rest of his career. Over the ensuing decades Nomoto developed a reputation for his deep, resonant timbre and his ability to imbue secondary characters with nuanced personality, a talent that made him a staple in both television animation and feature films. His early work included minor roles in classic series such as Ganso Tensai Bakabon and GeGeGe no Kitarō, where he honed his craft and built connections with directors who would later rely on his dependable voice for more prominent parts.
