Rebecca Pidgeon, born on October 10, 1965 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is an American-British actress, singer, and songwriter. Daughter of visiting professor Carl R. Pidgeon and yoga teacher Elaine, Pidgeon was raised in an academic, arts-loving family. Her paternal relatives also had strong ties to creative and academic fields. In 1970, Pidgeon's family moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, and she later joined the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, coincidentally, the same batch with actors Clive Owen and Liza Tarbuck. Pidgeon started her career as the lead singer of the British folk/pop band Ruby Blue, from 1986 to 1990. She created her individual musical footprint by releasing several albums, starting with 'The Raven' in 1994. Along with her musical career, Pidgeon also made her mark in the acting industry with her first feature film, 'The Dawning', in 1988. Thereafter, she frequented both stage and screen under the direction of David Mamet, whom she married in 1991. Pidgeon's diverse acting portfolio includes films like 'The Spanish Prisoner', 'The Winslow Boy', and 'State and Main'. In addition to acting and singing, Pidgeon also used her talent in music composition for film scores.
