Peyton Reed: Movies, Awards & Box Office

Peyton Tucker Reed, born July 3, 1964, hails from Raleigh, North Carolina, where he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987 with a degree in English and Radio, Television & Motion Pictures. He functioned as a DJ for WXYC, the UNC student radio station, during his time at the university, and even worked as a van driver on the set of Bull Durham in 1987. Reed first rose to prominence for his directorial debut in the hit film, ‘Bring It On’. He continued to lend his talents to diverse comedy productions, such as 'Down with Love' and 'The Break-Up'. Off the set, he's been known to wear many creative hats, including small acting roles in several films and writing original songs for his soundtracks.

In an unexpected twist, Reed stepped in to replace Edgar Wright as the director of the superhero film Ant-Man – a decision that significantly shifted his career trajectory. His success with Ant-Man led him to direct its sequels including 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' and 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania'. In addition to his Marvel contributions, Reed has directed two episodes of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian and is reportedly preparing for a film about the iconic 1960s band, the Monkees. Outside of his professional life, Reed enjoys playing with the band Cardinal Family Singers in Los Angeles, where he resides with his second wife, Sheila Naghshineh, and their two sons.
