Percelle Ascott (born 10 June 1993) is a Zimbabwean‑British actor and writer who has become a recognizable face in contemporary British television and web‑based comedy. Born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, he moved to England at the age of three and grew up in the Penge neighbourhood of South London, where his early fascination with performance was sparked by a school production of The Jungle Book at eleven. Encouraged by a drama teacher at Woodcote High School, he earned a place at the renowned BRIT School at sixteen, a decision that placed him alongside future collaborator Joivan Wade and set the foundation for his later internet‑era projects. His professional debut arrived in 2010 with the BBC Two television film Excluded, where he portrayed Wayne, and he quickly followed with a guest lead in Silent Witness. The same year he and Wade were invited by Glen Murphy of Twist and Pulse to perform a comedy sketch, a meeting that introduced Dee Kaate and led to the creation of the viral web series Mandem on the Wall (2011‑2013). The trio’s chemistry translated to the E4 series Youngers (2013‑2014) and culminated in a live performance at Hackney Empire in 2015. From 2012 to 2014 Ascott gained a broader audience as Benny Sherwood in Russell T Davies and Phil Ford’s CBBC sci‑fi series Wizards vs Aliens, playing the loyal best friend of the protagonist. His film credits expanded with roles in the musical Beat Girl (2013) and the drama X+Y. A subsequent collaboration with Wade and Kaate produced the feature film The Weekend (2016) and the interactive online project Genesis. In 2018 he starred opposite Sorcha Groundsell and Guy Pearce in Netflix’s supernatural thriller The Innocents, while also appearing in the Doctor Who episode “The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos” and Rapman’s web trilogy Shiro’s Story. Recent work includes the Sky Atlantic series Tin Star (Series 3) as Jesse and upcoming film projects such as I Came By, Inner Bull, and Kukeri. In 2024 he welcomed his first child, a daughter named Zuri, marking a new personal milestone alongside his flourishing career.
